Skyrim VS PoE
Skyrim and POE are the only 2 games I'm playing at the moment. It saddens me that Skyrim seems to have more bugs than a game in Closed Beta, but it is still a great game and I can see myself playing it alot more.
To me, POE's skill system is more interesting, whereas Skyrims character build offers alot more power and opportunity to make your character better quickly (because it is a world created for a single player and they dont have to deal with Multiplayer Balancing issues) I should have bought Skyrim for the PC though (I have Xbox version), at least then I could manually fix bugs via the console. (Loading times on PC are also faster I hear) Ultimately I think POE is better, but that is only because I prefer Multiplayer games. |

Skyrim is a great game imo. But there are some flaws that makes removes it from the top notch of games out there.
1. Main quest is all too short. (yes I know the game consists of 5 million side quests, but still) 2. I still have the feeling that Bethesda has this way of making their games: Go into dungeon -> Kill/sneak past enemies -> Get quest token/kill boss -> Go out again and repeat. And doing this since TES III, it's become a little... worn out so to speak. There are probably more thing, but I'm not saying Skyrim is the best nor the worst. If played casually you will have plenty of hours to enjoy this game, you really will. I just had hoped there would be an certain something in Skyrim that Oblivion lacked, being the Morrowind fan I am. But hey, still a great game! :) |

Because the Skyrim world is so massive, a lot of bugs came up shortly after launch. There were also plenty of issues resulting from the dynamic radiant quests given by NPCs. Everything from location and objective was random and often bugged out.
Nothing a few console commands can't fix though! Well.. for the most part. |

Skyrim is all the blunder I thought it'd be and more. Turns out the game was a really low quality port from consoles, and it contains so many bugs, glitches, exploits, and balance problems that unless you play the game with your eyes closed you'll run into a problem every 2 minutes... albeit most players don't care and might just overlook it.
The game looks fairly good, but ironically enough, it could have looked MUCH better... the mod community has shown that with a few basic changes the game looks vastly better. So even a strength that it does have is overshadowed by the low quality they put into the game. The environment engine has a ton of glitches that are clearly caused by Bethesda just copy and pasting code, as the environment issues function identically to previous issues in their engines. Their highly touted radiant systems do work... sometimes. When they don't it's embarrassingly bad. The ONE thing this game has going for it if you ignore all the problems is that it has a lot to do packed into the relatively small area of skyrim. However even that is under scrutiny. The state of the elder scroll games is currently due to their refocusing and primary development for consoles. It's really sad that such a large innovative game ends up like this (severely constrained due to consoles.) I don't want to call Skyrim 'junk' because it's better than other games... however that's not saying much because the bar has been lowered to the point of invisibility. Elder Scrolls contain more potential than most game franchises... and they squandered it with their last few games (and Fallout.) The cost of development for this game might be say, 100 million dollars maximum... but they're going to make 400-500 Million... I just don't understand how this game is worth that much and what they will do with such huge revenue from their last few games. Can't compare two completely different games tho, but since I'm not a beta member, but watched quite a few videos, I'd say that Skyrim might give the best experience in a short period, say a couple of months, while PoE could provide entertainment (also with friends) over a longer period of time.
50/50 The human brain is amazing.
It functions 24 hours for 365 days. It functions right from the time we were born & only stops when we... ...Take exams. |

They both look to be the same good quality and they both are rpgs - but probably should not be compared side by side.

I used to play Skyrim a lot, and I'm playing the modded version, with even better graphics (not many gameplay inventions are out still, though), but eventually PoE won over my heart, and I'm back here :)
Anyway, Skyrim is a lifetime adventure, it could be still great to play even after several years, with even better mods around, new quests, new experiences... Let's see what will make PoE that great after same amount of time! BTW, I got bugged in Skyrim only once, in one particular cage the game was crushing time after time when I was reaching a certain point... fortunately, the cave had another entrance on the opposite side, so I could eventually clear it, anyway. To mention, Oblivion was the first game that forced me to exchange my old graphic card to be able to play it, back those times... Proud Beta tester. They can't really be compared. Skyrim is more set in a first person view, while POE is set in third person. Also, they are very different in gameplay and Skyrim is more open-world.

I hated skyrim only 17 hours played, never tried Path of Exile, but from what I've seen, poe wins.
