Divination cards influence on economy system
It might be even possible that these cards will be a new base currency, how about that? I like it, why are people so afraid of 'economy shifts' ? I DO play standard now and then and I don't care if my ex are 37 chaos or 73 the next month. I don't really care about ex anyways, alterations and fusings are the future, and now divination cards :D

There's not much use in speculating right now...
Things we know: There will be an impact on the economy. Things we don't know: What items DC's will be created for Where DC's will drop How often they will drop How many players will need to combine Whether drop rates will be adjusted If this is implemented well it will give players more farming options, more currency options, and an ability to get items they need on their own. If it's implemented poorly there will be one or two farming options, and new main currency, and cards will filter up to the top players. There's no way to know until we see some more information though. |

As with everything, the economy will evolve as the game evolves.

Speculation is rampant.
We have no idea how the cards are going to affect anything at this point. ~ Please separate the PoE1 and PoE2 forums.

We know some stuff. You will collect cards to get a reward. Cards will be tradable. That makes them a currency. People will want cards and others wont value them for their reward, so they'll be traded for their perceived value.
Like exalts. Some people use them to craft, and others don't see this as valuable. So they trade their exalts to the people who do for items and whatnot. It becomes a currency when people stop trading them for items and start trading them for the sake of using them as a placeholder in a trade. We're likely to see some of the more rare cards used as currency. |

" Easy, you´re too fast with your cut off. Why do you think that non-map-gated items have the power to crash the market? I find that a rather amusing exaggeration at best. What can never be lent or earned?
Somewhat, that devours everyone and everything: A tree that rush. A bird that sings. It eat bones and smite the hardest stones. Masticate every sword. Shatters every shrine. It defeat mighty kings and carry mountains on lightly wings. What am i? |

I don't think Divination cards will have a wild effect on the economy of big ticket items, GGG has the rarity of those items exactly where they want it by design and they are not going to allow a method to pump those into the economy at a faster rate. It will however provide a method of collecting the pieces that will feel less all or nothing for the rarest items. I'm interested that this mechanism is getting added when the large chest was removed from the Catacombs because it attracted too much targeted farming. If I had an army of bots to farm PoE I would be having a wet dream over this addition right now!
I'm more interested in whether this will put a new strain on the trade system. If there are 20 cards for a Belly of the Beast and they are numbered, the first thing I am going to want to do is swap my duplicate cards with someone else while I'm putting the set together. Won't this mean that for one Belly to change hands, that perhaps 10 trades will happen between people to make it happen? Oh and I hope one card isn't much rarer than all the others like fragments!!! Overall I think the most exciting area is Divination cards which are more common and provide utility such as getting projectile support gems early, base items with Tyrannical and so on. |

" I wasn't too fast, and it amuses me that your ignorance of economics amuses you. All uniques with the sole exception of perhaps acuity are at their cheapest right now. This is because the supply is increasing faster than demand. Many unqiues that used to command multiple exalt price tags are now only worth chaos. This is worse than it sounds because chaos itself is deflated vs exalts from 25:1 about 3 leagues back to 40:1 today. Basically farming the same amount of time with the same amount of luck results in less profit today than it did in the past. The divination cards will exacerbate the problem by further increasing the supply of uniques without any increase of aggregate demand. The economy is already in a shaky state, implementing divination cards with no controls (map gated or otherwise) will make the vast majority of uniques truly worthless. As an example Alpha's Howl used to be worth ~4 ex, now it is ~20 chaos. That is good news for people farming the chaos recipe but very bad news for people who find an Alpha's Howl. Now say there is a divination card set for Alpha's Howl that doubles the supply, its value will crash further. The value of everything but mirror gear will crash without controls on divination cards. Keep PoE2 Difficult.
