Tips for farming / Magic Finding

6) Don't waste too much time trading.

Thats very very wrong. Thats the easiest way to be rich

I guess if you MF you want to be rich

Yes trading is the easiest way to get rich, but what I meant was trading rando low level crap. These cute little Dom running noobs are talking about hawking their 5-10 chaos items they find.

My point was, don't do that noob shit, just dump and move on. I'll edit the post to say, don't spend too much time trading crap items :)

But yeah, if you want to get rich the easiest and fastest way, it's flipping expensive items, hands down. If you're good at it you can make several EX's margin per trade.

Still nobody... What a surprise. Cute Dom runners :)

Ok now I'm starting to think you're just trolling. How do you not think to yourself "Ok, Maybe I was wrong" when literally not one person in this thread has agreed with you.
One hour into my dom runs so far. Here's the results, video to follow in an edit to this post once processing is complete:

$$$ @ 60 alts / 1 hour in

Like I said, I'm not going to have a single chunk of time long enough for this for a while, so I'm going to do it in hour or two segments, I think. Likely will take me a lot longer to hit the 300 alt mark due to my farming methodology... probably more like 4-5 hours. Will keep updating.

VixTrader... still waiting on that video of yours.

Note: I'm not keeping track of experience on my runs, because I know it's negligible compared to what you would get mapping; essentially zero.

I think this is false. Given how most people want to be rich in PoE (reason for this thread :-P). If it was easy to flip expensive items, everyone would do it.
So, assuming VixTrader is telling the truth about his 300 alt run (still need a video), I matched his time. Here is what 2:47 of Dominus farming got me...

Lootz

Rares I kept to put into my shop:

Here's a summary comparison (uses approximate currency values from Standard league)

I ignored the Divine here in the comparison math; you're not going to find a Divine Orb every ~30 maps. No way.

If he is telling the truth, then he is correct that you will make more currency farming maps, while finding far fewer uniques. You're not going to get any relevant gem XP doing Dom runs, but I don't think it's really all that meaningful from maps either. It takes a LONG time to level a gem to 20/20 and then it only sells for 2 ex tops... the income per hour is not significant.

If this information is accurate, if you want to:
1) Farm for uniques = kill Dominus
2) Farm for currency = go do maps

The build I use to MF Dominus

** This whole thing probably needs a disclaimer that we aren't technically comparing profitability of Dominus vs Maps in general, but rather VixTrader's experience in maps vs my own farming Dominus. Your mileage will vary depending on your build and relative clear speeds of each.

OP is so pretentious and condescending because of what?

I don't understand. It's weird when new players think they are hot shit, and get up on a high horse and lose their cool instead of being level-headed.

It's also weird that OP doesn't even know the one thing about high level maps that makes them even more profitable AKA probably the most important things, but I don't want to make that head any bigger, it might pop, he knows everything anyways.
anything is everything

Well thanks for actually going through it instead of just running your mouth. The results are as expected, I completely obliterated you. :)

I made about 4.5 EX in orbs, about 25 chaos in map drops, 7 chaos recipe sets for 14 chaos, and experience on my 20 quality gems. So just shy of 6 EX, not including experience or items. Also, my finds can be sold for EX in minutes. Literally, I pile up sets fast, 300 alts, 165 jewellers, 210 chromes, 100 chance, 80 Alc, 21 regal, etc etc etc... Trading takes 2 minutes for me.

Which is about on par with what I usually do. About 1.5 - 2 EX per hour of mapping, with virtually no trading required, and NOT including item drops of course because those are random for everybody.

You on the other hand made maybe 1 EX in orbs, no experience on gems or character, and the only hope you have of not completely wasting your time is the off chance that you'll get a drop or two that sells for something, which takes time out of your next set of runs and adds to your overall wild inefficiency of Dom runs.

Exactly as expected. I've done the Dom run thing in the past too. Once you make an efficient mapping character and realize you can make twice as much per hour mapping, you'll look at Dom runs like I do. A complete and utter joke.

You guys remind me of those clowns that used to run Andariel in Diablo 2. So cute :)

I'm not a new player, I just don't have very much time to dedicate to video games. I've got a lvl 90, 87, and 83. That's about all the time I have for games. Which is why I have to be efficient in my farming. I don't have time in life to waste on Dom runs. I prefer to double my earning by farming maps efficiently.

I also don't think I'm hot shit. This is a video game, there's no such thing as hot shit in video games. I'm neither rich, nor experienced in making a million different characters. I'm very good at farming though, and as I said, I'll make more per hour than any one of you guys, easy.
