People cheat in games because they do not want to cheat in real life. Its similar to beating a prostitute in GTA, you won't do it in real life. Living a life outside of realism is what gaming is about. Driving fast cars etc etc.

So it doesn't make a person a "piece of shit" because they cheat in a game. Gaming cheats have been around long before the internet.

Now because this game is overly competitive, it creates another scenario. Its more like stealing (theft) than cheating. In a way this game mirrors real life. Life is full of scammers, thieves and generally unsavory people. Don't forget killers (PK'ers).

So what I'm saying is that a guy who maphacks and uses the stuff for himself (does not involve other people) is hardly a piece of shit..he just enjoys the game differently. Problem is, how do you distinguish the one from the other..

Dude, face it. Cheaters = piece of shit. face it. You are just not reaching the awareness of it yet.

Let's say you have been playing for 2 weeks, farmed the shit out of yourself because you wanted an item so bad.

Then a piece of shit(a cheater) in-game comes along and makes a troll face at you and outbid your offer of the item by tenfold.

What do you call him? A very pure-hearted guy who enjoys the game in a different way than you? I am really baffled by your logic
Race? Season points? Nah. Not my thing.

It's so funny that it's easier to get into trouble with GGG for exposing a cheater than for actual cheating.

This. Hits the nail on the head. Well said.

As someone who plays ArcheAge (or rather until patron expires), cheats in PoE are nothing to complain.

What is the worst out there? A script that tells you what is in the map? As far as I know it doesn't even tell its location, just that it exists. Big deal.

If GGG was really intent on preventing or punishing that kind of hacks, they could just ban people spamming instances but only entering the ones worth it. But I don't think they take it as a big deal neither.

dude. lol. are you serious? Do you even play the game?

This game is about competition. Why the fuck do you want to play a game fair and square if everyone is cheating?

And then again, why would you play an online game to "cheat"?

It's ridiculous. People usually get false sense of achievement when they accomplish something in-game.

But for people who cheats to accomplish something in-game,

That's double false sense of achievement they are getting.

And how would they know the difference between someone just timing load time versus someone using hack? Metronome approach works....

How many people in this thread have been banned? Let me help out, it is at least one. I was banned for a period and reinstated when it was found to be a mistake. It sucked during that time though. Banning someone shouldn't be an easy step to take because innocent people get hit as well. I was good with it because the greater good of hitting cheaters is worth it.
Thanks for all the fish!

I'm in the same boat, the fact that hackers can make literally endless gold by teleporting around with trade packs really makes me not want to extend my patron status.
GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.

If you are running every zone with a regular strongbox/corrupted area/rogue exile/altar/FMaster in it, then you are safe. BUT if you are skipping everything except the zones that contain gemcutter/artisan; dont try to justify your hacking habits with weak logic.

It is really not rocket science. Hacks in PoE are not gamebreaking, and any attempt to exploit them is just to obvious for the reason I stated above. If GGG actually cared about it solutions are quite easy; both for preventing the hack AND punishing hackers. The fact that they dont do either means that they are thinking like me "no big deal".

PS: only someone who played AA can understand where I am coming from, hacks here are nothing compared to regular benefits/exploits of the game mechanics people abuse legally.
Safer just to assume everyone's cheating a shut the game down.
