If the game is already no challenge to you, why would a better weapon help?

sense of progress you know that carrot on the stick that keeps you going and going...
Reflect is a fun way to get dischargers instagibbed to death.
Hahahahaha, that is fun. XD

The way I see it, reflect works as intended then. Imagine it wasn't there. Then your char could perfectly safely roflstomp all content. How would that be good design?
No, reflect is there precisely so some extremes in builds become harder/riskier. There should be more such mechanics which force you to compromise, preventing some of the other extreme roflstomp "exploits".

my character is roflstomping all the content including reflect but i cannot get even more damage becouse of it.

L OH FUCKING L!

Since when is being aware of what you're hitting not a skill? Being blocked by walls fun to you? Then you should stick to that game.

You are confusing upgrading your gear with upgrading your weapon. You have 8 item slots that are not your weapon. You have to upgrade more than just your weapon before saying better gear makes reflect worse. Better gear makes reflect easier, not harder. You're just doing it wrong.

all my gear are pretty much best except weapon capped resistance i told you 90 level i crit myself for 80% of my hp with my current bow and only upgrade to my gear is a weapon so... yes i cant progress my gear anymore only becouse of reflect (why wouldnt i use skills that fly beyond my screen if thats my build? Also i can do all mods on maps currently but if i upgrade my weapon there will be 1 that i cant with my skills so it wont be a progress)

You are such a bad troll.

Do you really think 80% crits stopping anything? Do you know what Cast on damage taken + immortal call does to reflect? I will tell you... If you survive a 1 reflect shot you become immune for 1-3 seconds (with improved duration and enduring cry and endurance charge gainer gear) that means reflect that does not kills you does Nothing (lifesteal + instant flask if it was crit gets you back to full for its duration you can also stop attacking for 2-3 seconds if you had low endurance charges and dont want to use flask for whatever reason to wait untill lifesteal regenerates you to full). Issue is if i upgrade my damage more that wont be the case.

Learn to read then look for ghosts/trolls or whatever else you are seeing everywhere except in the mirror.

Well, those mods generally exist to make players aware of their surroundings and play carefully sometimes and not just spam 1 AOE skill that deals damage 10000000 screens over. If they removed reflect, what is there to kill people that die to it at the moment? Nothing. Thats why zooming out isnt something GGG will ever do, its as far out as it gets to make mobs see you and attack you and you see them and kite them. Its all balanced, GGG knows what to do.
Again, there is no "1 AOE skill that deals damage 10000000 screens over" to spam. If it will come to be, then it can be discussed. Until then, I humbly request people stop spamming that argument over and over.

Also, you inquire about what is there to kill people. My answer would be that's for GGG to decide. For now there's enough of leaping and teleporting enemies that easily one-shot glass cannon characters, as well as some nice ranged monsters with powerful attacks. Adding some new ones to that list of dangers would be welcome.

But the game mechanic that makes you kill yourself is not fun. In D2, for example, devs have realized it and gradually removed stuff that did it, first the +Multiple Projectile +Sparks +Cast-on-Hit +aura bosses which would immolate certain kind of melee characters, then Iron Maiden which could be cast at the moment before attack, making instadeath, or could be just cast constantly and the character would not be able to fight at all. Say what you will, but Blizz guys were not a stupid bunch.

As for the current reflect problem, there is a whole lot of ways to make it playable. It can be on off-powerup-on-delay-off schedule, it can affect only some area around the mob, it can create separate delayed damage effects that can be dodged etc. The only problem is the will to solve it.

Also I would like to actually have more information about being hit by reflect and other dangerous stuff. In game there is a lot of situations where you won't be able to see the aura on the mob you're hitting and these visual queues would help immensely.

.
Everybody here complaining about reflect insist they are not playing glass cannons. They seem to be saying there is only one thing in the game that kills them, and that's reflect.

The vast majority of players have learned how to deal with reflect. It's a simple formula really. Don't increase your damage beyond your ability to mitigate 18% of it. The argument that it's a lazy mechanic is coming from people too lazy to compensate for it. The argument that it's not fun is also coming from people who won't make a balanced build. I don't know why they should make the game easier for those who won't make it easier themselves. D3 keeps making their game easier and easier. Removing the challenge just makes the game boring.

This please. I'm not a huge fan of walking into an Unid'ed map for funsies, and then instagibbing myself on the first mobpack because it has elemental reflect before I realise what the heck is going on.
On top of that, the current particle effects are nigh impossible to make out amongst the clusterphuq that is a strongbox with 3 rare mobs, at least 2 of whom have aura effects, and 1 ALWAYS has allies cannot die, which is a shit ton of halo's right there. Some visual feedback as to why you just lost 70% of your HP when there aren't any devouerers around would be appreciated. It would be a lot easier to play around if it was easier to notice imo :/

(For the record, I don't like the mechanic at all, but I don't think it needs to go. Just needs a little work...)

I just reroll any map with a elemental reflect now. 18% is too much - one lightning arrow, which hits all mobs in its radius, crits, triggers an arc discharge, pierces to hit another mob pack and discharges arc again... There's nothing i can do. 75% resists can't save you when you're dealing ~20x your maximum hp in a single attack.

Yes, getting more health would increase my survivability, but it's not like i'm amazingly geared as is. i could perhaps double my hp from where it is now but i'm damn certain that with better gear i can triple my damage output. Then what are the options? run in suboptimal gear because one fringe case will annihilate me without even giving me a chance to react? That seems utterly contrary to the game's general philosophy.

The mechanic needs to be rethought, if not outright removed.
