How have Zana/cart boxes changed map pool sustainability?
My map pool is better than ever since the free maps from Zana. I actually feel like I'm building up my map pool even when running maps that still give me good exp.

It's the first time (never played ambush, only HC or HC league) I don't have ANY problem with maps, from 66 maps I just start increasing my map pool and now I have around 40 74-76 and at least 15 77+ and unfortunately I can't play a lot :(
p.s. played solo or duo most of the time |

My Zana isn't even 6 yet, because I don't "820" or buy dailies from others, so her impact on my map pool is non-existent. Doesn't help that I had to abort a daily (Temple) due to fractured/seawitches causing stability issues.
For me, maintaining a map pool without buying maps is as bad as ever.
" Roll always 30-35+ Magic or Pack Size, and from 72-73 use 4chisel, you will have to buy a lot of alterations but still better than buy maps over and over. |

I don't buy currency, either. Playing only solo self-found in Standard/HC (only way I can play there and have fun!). I'd buy alts/chisels if I wanted to level my Rampage character higher, though. (But I generally try for packsize, yes.)
It's okay, just not really much of an improvement as far as my own experiences go. There's always the random drop luck element. I've had maps that dropped five maps, but typically they are much lower. I think it would be good to increase the minimum level of maps that can drop (similar to the +2 for better maps) so that you don't get a 66 or 67 map when running 74 maps. Just cap it at -4. Alching all my maps always sustains them up to at least 71, for me.
Better stay in the land of the damned, Exile. Here, even the very words are corrupted by Nightmare.

I don't even chisel 76's and run them blue, just invest in your cartographer boxes and you will get 10+ good maps out of them and just build ur map pool that way. Also the free map of Zana can give you 2-3 good maps once in a while.

At this juncture, the recent additions of Zana (moreso) and Cartographer Boxes (less so because Zana is gauranteed) mean you no longer need to roll your maps for affixes beyond Hordes/Champions.
I think on average, you'll get one 73+ map per day or two assuming your Zana is at 5-6 and that'll help you build your base. " Make what you will of it. I have never purchased a map nor will I do so anytime soon. |

" No offense, but if your map management is as messy as your post, I'm not surprised you have problems sustaining map pool. And to be honest, getting lvl to lvl 74 isn't even that hard now - just run Master dailies, and you'll get one eventually. Blaming RNG is the easy way out - finding what you are doing wrong is hard, because you need to admit that you fucked up at some point. And I'm quite sure you have, because most of people does agree that nowadays mapping is quite easy. Real knowledge is to know the extent of one's ignorance.
Ignorance more frequently begets confidence than does knowledge.
His experience isn't so different from mine, though my problem is 73-74+ maps, not 68 ones. I've always been swimming in 6x maps. But you'll get people who claim not to have any problems with 73-76 maps, either, and that might well be true (I am not saying they are not truthful), so I believe that what he outlines is entirely possible. I'm running far more 70 maps than I should have to at my level. If I combine them, I'll run out of maps faster.
I don't feel overly strongly about the topic these days, but it's yet another aspect of the game where there is little balance between solo self-found and grouping/trading. Zana will help eventually, but leveling her up takes time if you do it by yourself. Last edited by Mivo#2486 on Sep 11, 2014, 7:52:57 AM
