Why don't YOU play HC?
Tried, and I just suck too much.. simple. My brain just turns off and I do stupid shit and die :) I greatly respect HC players who can play 10+ hours a day and even when they are tired, dont fuck up

I do shit on a second monitor while I play PoE. I don't pay enough attention to the game to not die

I only made it to level 27 in that one-week HC race.
So clearly, not cut out for it. And the rubberband on strongboxes has killed my witch 5 times while levelling so I'd have to avoid completely. Too much stress, which I guess is fun for some. |

Bad internet. Live in US with worst internet of the first world. DCs, lag spikes and so on. If I lived on Korea I'd play HC.

I'm a strict standard player for a few reasons:
1: Skill Tree I basically came to this game to fully enjoy the usage of the skill tree. Having seen the skill tree from only a picture, I already acknowledged it's massive ability and impact it would have on characters throughout the game. I simply can't be bothered "losing" my character because my build didn't work out. I'd rather try to move a few points around when I die, than re-roll my whole character. Sure, it's do-able at levels 1~30ish. But i want to level my chars to at least 50 to see if the build works. Be it with a death or two, so I can make changes. 2: Time I see "losing" my character as a waste of time. I don't have the right mindset to play a game, and to gain nothing from it if I do something stupid. My play times vary a lot, and I'm a working student, so I don't have much time to begin with. I've grown tired of leveling up characters, and usually rush ahead, only to die to the group of mobs standing around the corner in a area that's too high level for me. I just don't feel like having to start over again every time I die. 3: Economy I finally got a little spending currency in Standard. I hate the fact of being poor and not being able to buy anything/crap to gear up my characters. Plus I waste so many orbs on crap it's ridiculous. Whenever I see an item, and it's moderately decent(duo-res, no life, 2 other crap mods) I still exalt it. I know it's stupid, hell, the ilvl of the item wqas 53. I wouldn't of gained anything from exalting it. But I still did. Because it's standard, who gives a rat's ass. 4: Just plain tired of Hardcore in ARPGS I've been playing HC on D3 ever since it came out. I'm completely bored with hardcore. I just can't get into a game like that anymore, and enjoy it. |

HC is worth it just for the global announcements of people ripping. Being in Global 1 when someone rips...I just find unexplainable joy from seeing the chat go wild.
Yesterday we had at least 5 big rips in 2 hours. „I don't give a fuck if it was his tenth anniversary with his goddamn neckbeard...“
„If they think I'm going to let them sweep this pizza guy thing under the rug...“ No mod action. Business as usual. |

I play hardcore because I find the early to mid game to be the most enjoyable and I love watching other people die. It means I get to watch the people with lv90+ characters die, the chat explode in excitement and all the while I don't really mind when I die.
Git gud or die trying is my motto. |

I'm playing Beyond as my first Hardcore league (having always been a cronic softcore player dating all the way back to Diablo 2)
I am enjoying it, but I'm not planning turning into a hardcore only player, mainly for two reasons 1. Because of death being permanent I play in a completely different way, being overly cautious, since I'm generally not skilled enough to manage Merciless otherwise. I'm currently level 69 in Beyond and still in Act 2, turtling myself ahead slowly. The slow pace does impact the fun a bit for me. 2. Even though I'm playing a super tanky build and being really careful, I know that stuff can happen outside my control that would mean the end of me. I've almost died from things like looking away from the monitor for a second (admittedly preventable, but it's QoL issue), and desync or some sort of ddos or crash could also mean the end of me without it being my fault at all. So generally I prefer softcore for being faster paced, and more forgiving of my mistakes and crashes/desync... That said, I think trying hardcore this league might have helped making me a better player, and get me better trained to use logout macro instead of needless risk that would given me xp penalty in softcore... maybe I'll finally get a softcore char up to level 90 with my new skills :P Designer of The Broken Crown
