Why don't YOU play HC?

I play sc because... well...

[trying not to sound uber-elitist]

I get all the HC action i need real world trading. If i screw up it costs me money.

Im looking for (literally) something to do while waiting for trades to develop (or begin) and PoE gives me the excuse i need to be at me desk a lot, and helps to not fuck with my positions unnecessarily.

I do not need the added excitement of playing in the HC leagues, i need a relaxing distraction.

All this hate just for playing another league, it'd be funny if it wasnt so sad.

Anyhow, to people that state that the community is bad in hardcore, i can only say that this goes both ways. I'd say the community for POE sucks in general, and is not league specific.

I will admit that i find rerolling characters very boring tho. Getting through the same 3 acts again and again. I dread the moment act 4 comes out, for that reason alone.

Personally i play hardcore because standard bored me. If i feel that i dont have anything to loose i tend to play super glasscannon, resulting in very squishy builds that tend to die a lot. Knowing that one death means heaving to start all over again at least makes me play safe. So its more of a selfpreservation thing than anything else.

That beeing said, i understand why people play standard, and dont judge.

Those softcores making themselves feel better by saying HC isn't really HC because of alt-f4...for one love how you try to justify your own inadequacies by disparaging HC players and secondly take a look at Beyond ladder and tell me that living is easy. Not just a few pages, but go through 30+.

I don't care which league people play because I don't interact with the people who don't play my league so for the most part they and the issues with their don't matter to me on a daily practical level. For example, I don't give a damn that the economy of SC is inflated because I won't ever experience it.

For those who play softcore for real legitimate reasons such as internet connection issues, real life required random afks, not enough time to start over, etc., great. I'm glad you can still enjoy PoE in some form.

For people who are completely unwilling to play HC for other reasons, it is pointless to try to convince them to do it. HC people know why we play it. You can't force someone to feel the same emotions as you do. They either desire that thrill and extra challenge or they don't.

Yet you play in a temporary 3-month league. There is nothing wrong with your reason, it just seemed odd coming from someone who doesn't play Standard.

Shit optimization. Period. Lag spikes on frequent zones, effects, weather. Game freezes on certain areas and whatnot.

I died often enough on screens that were off-screen, while having frame issues, lag spikes, desync and so on.
