Then let's hope that GGG doesn't cave in to a group of people who clearly are looking for a Diablo 3 clone to play.

Fixed that up for you. =D

That targeting is subject to change and has changed before. The most important evidence of this was caving in to the "we don't want to play in short allocation mode" crowd despite GGG themselves loving the loot tension.

There is a huge difference between adding a minor option for group leaders to choose between permanent allocation and short allocation, and adding in an entire new permanent league. If you cannot see that, you are blind. I do not consider that a valid argument in the slightest.

Definitely agree here. The scale alone puts them in totally different realms of comparison.

Let me get this straight, the only difference you see between path and d3 is the ability to trade in path?

Because thats the only change necessary to make a SFL..

You fail to understand that to make a SFL viable you would need to rebalance drop rates and that would make the game easier. Not only that but the reason people like these types of games is because of the cool loot, and why do they like the cool loot? Because it's valuable, so if you remove trading every item that drops is utterly worthless unless it fits your very specific build and therefore like 40% of the fun is gone.

Most people want a SFL because they are bad at the game, they have no idea how to trade and want higher drop rates so they can play 3 hours a week and be decked out. You don't need any changes to play SFL if all you want is no trading, you can do that in any league just fine, you only need a SFL league when you want higher drop rates.

Speak for yourself, id find the game perfectly viable with trading just removed and nothing else. I like the cool loot because it lets me blow shit up in various ways, not because I can use it to sell to other people so I have lots of pretty orbs sitting in my stash doing nothing. Also, its not a useless drop if its useful for ANY of your characters. Its a self found league, and 15 different characters are still myself.

At the second paragraph, I do not see being able to flip items and rip people off as 'part of the game' I see it as part of the economy created by the gamers. I want a SFL league so I can see how I am going against other self found players.

I understand that perhaps not everyone asking for a SFL feels this way, but all you are doing from my point of view is making things up to try and prove a point..

What you don't understand about flipping and flippers is that they also just wanna play the game. They want to be able to afford what they want so that's why they've taken to trading.
Flippers want an SFL too! Hell they'd prefer to play the damn game instead of watching trade chat.

You see if an SFL was made everyone would give it a try. If drop rates are good enough, no one would wanna leave. Who doesn't like finding 5 exalts everyday?

Then there would be no need for other leagues because everyone can just stay on SFL like crack babies addicted to the lootsplosion.
@ImpulsesTM

I will not pretend to understand flippers. I do suspect not all of them feel that way but I really wouldnt have a clue.

Thing is, what YOU dont understand is I am happy with my finding 1 exalt every day or two self found. I dont care if the drop rates get buffed or not, I just want a way to compare my own personal grinding against other peoples, basically. At the moment its impossible to compete against the flippers that way and that sucks /shrug.

*face palm*

But maybe this was made to mock one of my anti-trade threads. Touche.
Unless you actually realize, I'm not against trade, or disrespect the skill of the traders.
I just don't think trade is a "required skill" in an ARPG, but an optional one.
And most of all, I don't think everyone should get dragged into the market - willingly or not - by the game's atrocious mechanics. Nor do I think *everything* should be balanced and designed with "economy" in mind.

Given that they have infrastructure ready for adding races whenever they want to, adding a new permanent league would not be demanding from their side.

As for how it impacts the playerbase, I very much agree: the introduction of permanent allocation changed the way the game is played in regular leagues a lot more than introducing a self-found league would ever do.
