Trade Hate: Which one takes more skill?
|
Whats the difference in a SFL and already playing SF in the current leagues? I don't see how OP trading with other people effects SF players in anyway, because who cares what item someone else has and how they acquired it. Someone else trading for a shavs won't effect me playing the game in anyway, shape or form. Nor will it make me have a shavs of my own.
Seems a lot of people need to stop justifying how others play the game. Ambush, Invasion, Hardcore, Softcore, Trading, Self-found, Solo, Party. Play the game the way you want to play it and let others do the same. Justification of 'skill' is irrelevant. Divination Card - Emperor's Luck. Last edited by Isindel#2713 on Jul 27, 2014, 3:04:04 AM

" It matters if you "party". However, if you play self-found in accordance with what "self-found" really means, then partying would not be allowed and thus they have no reason for a self-found league other than a ladder ranking or other adjusted mechanics such as perhaps crafting. Trade is a means to an end. Why do you think players trade to acquire more gear? It's so that they can actually play the game at the gear level they want to play at. If you could spend 100 hours trading to acquire gear that would take the equivalent of 1000 hours of "grinding", why wouldn't you? You just saved yourself 900 hours of unrewarding loot drops.
SFL solves absolutely nothing. If you make a SFL with increased loot drops, it'll turn into a D3 loot charity borefest. If loot drops stay exactly the same on SFL, people will still be complaining about loot drops. The real solution? Trade. Bob finds item X that Sally needs. Sally finds item Y that Bob needs. They trade. It's how economies are born, and economies are good. ✮ in-game @FTMFW

" Holy fuck, how many times am I going to have to say this in this thread? We do not want SFL to solve the games problems. We want a SFL because thats how we like to play and want to do so with people like us. Fucks sake. Also, you do not seem to be able to comprehend this, but some people dont LIKE trading, and would therefor prefer to spend extra time grinding for gear instead of taking the easy route. Ill give you an example. Some people do not take higher paying jobs because they LIKE THEIR CURRENT ONE. Its the same concept. Is it REALLY that hard for you to understand this? IGN

" You can already do this. Turn off Trade Chat. Don't look at Noticeboard. Invite self-found friends to party. Have a self-found circlejerk. " Refer to the OP. Trading is not taking the "easy route". It's taking the smart route, by bypassing the terrible RNG via trade skill. " That's a terrible example. Day-traders, who "flip" stocks for a living, can coexist in the same world as someone who "grinds" a 9-5 job. Requesting a SFL is like asking for everyone who likes grinding a 9-5 job to have their own planet to live on. ✮ in-game @FTMFW ✮ twitch.tv/RRTSON ✮ [Shop] http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/909223 ✮ [Build of the Week] http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1034503 Last edited by rrtson#7791 on Jul 27, 2014, 3:08:09 AM

@rrtson
I can already do that, sure. I just cant have a ladder for it. I dont 'like' trade, but I would like to see a ladder of people who play self found. Easy enough for you to comprehend? Trading is far 'easier' than grinding because it cuts 90% of the time out of it. easy ˈiːzi/Submit adjective 1. achieved without great effort; presenting few difficulties. Trading requires at most 1/10th the time as straight up grinding does. At MOST. It also doesnt require any major skill to achieve, and is a much less effort intensive task than constantly grinding. You have to read trade chat, basically. Congratulations. Yes, they can coexist, but that was not my example. My example was that some people will choose the route that has less monetary gain because they LIKE IT LESS. I was not saying anything about real life jobs being compared to grinding in the game. I was simply giving you an example of another situation where people choose the less 'profitable' route. Do you understand that? I really hope you can man. You cant just take my example, apply it in a completely different ridiculous context, and then use that to say my initial example in its initial context was wrong lol. " Just because an apple is a fruit, it doesn't mean that it isn't eatable and that it can't be red. Edit: Trading is both the intended, easy and smart route. This message was delivered by GGG defence force. Last edited by mazul#2568 on Jul 27, 2014, 3:19:28 AM

" Did you actually say that browsing reddit/shopping the poe.xyz catalogue is not easy? I'm more than willing to give props to people who predict market movements, but this accounts for an extreme minority. Most just follow reddit and price as per poe.xyz, and it works. Do stop with this overblown talk about skill; it's disingenuous. This is a simple matter of gathering info, made even simpler by this thing called the internet. |
