Trade Hate: Which one takes more skill?

So far looking at the history of this game a new league is the only way to have a meaningful change in this area, which is why some of us want to see it.

What makes anyone think that GGG is going to make any real meaningful changes to fix trade vs. drops? Trade vs. crafting?

Your going to have to explain your point because I don't know what your getting at. I simply said that I don't believe any meaningful change will happen in the core game. GGG is too caught up in protecting the economy. So LOGICALLY a new league would be a place that they might feel free to make big changes for a sizable portion of the player base that is asking for that league.

And your evidence for that is...?

Even if GGG were "too caught up in protecting the economy", that is their choice. They've designed a game that is targeted at a certain market of gamers. PoE is a particular type of ARPG, in which trading is an integral part. PoE can't please everyone. If you aren't satisfied with GGG's interpretation of what an ARPG is supposed to be like, then there are greener pastures elsewhere.

For you to suggest that GGG should create a SFL and that it would solve all problems is quite naive. First of all, creating a new league costs development time, something they are in short supply of. And like others have mentioned, more leagues = more fragmentation, which further splits the playerbase. Since GGG values social interaction, creating a SFL would go against the general good of the PoE community.

If you were objectively looking at this game's history and came to the conclusion that they do not make meaningful changes in the existing leagues, there is no reason to believe they would with a new league.

However, if you believe that a new league has room for these kinds of changes, the existing leagues do too, and they aren't as caught up in "protecting the economy" as you might think.

You can't have it both ways.

That targeting is subject to change and has changed before. The most important evidence of this was caving in to the "we don't want to play in short allocation mode" crowd despite GGG themselves loving the loot tension.

What GGG needs to do is improve their crafting system, rather than create a league where a Shavs drops for everyone in Normal Hillock.

Again, GGG's limited resources are better spent improving the game as a whole. Creating sub-leagues where people demand different rules for the game is utter stupidity. What's next? A league where there are no Scions or Witches because they're too OP? How about a league with no ranged skills? Okay! Two-hand-only league? Sure! No-Mjolner-league? Yeah! Rare-items-only league? Fuck yeah, why not? Where do you even begin to draw the line?

People who demand SFL should focus their anger/desperation/jealousy at actual issues, and provide suggestions on overall game design that would benefit everyone.

Sigh, how many times does this need to be said. We dont neccesarily want an SFL to fix those issues, and I seriously doubt many of us think it would SOLVE those issues. Some of us may want tweaks to drop rates and such, but thats not the core fucking reason for it. We just want a SFL, not a SFL to fix all of the games problems..
