PSA: AHs don't ruin games, Designers ruin games

I agree. All the AH did was make underlying problems apparent faster.

People still prefer to shoot the messenger though.

D3 was a piece of shit, and after blizzerd removed AH... its still a piece of shit.

I'm against an AH, it would simply accelerate inflation. What this means is that average joe (the one who already QQs about how trading sucks) will never be able to sell his mediocre items, while the good items would be even more expensive than now. I know you guys are lazy but an AH would kill the economy. Something like poe.xyz.is as an ingame feature implemented by GGG would be great. And no, poe.xyz is nothing like an AH.

News Flash: There are an infinite amount of ways to implement an AH. Just like how there are an infinite amount of ways to construct an automobile. By claiming "poe.xyz is nothing like an AH" you're exposing your lack of understanding for what an AH actually is.

Poe.xyz.is a type of auction house, and D3's in-game auction house was another type. They differ in implementation, but they both are places where items are auctioned off. So it boils down to how an auction house is implemented. Not all AH are bad, and not all of them are good. There are plenty of RPGs/MMOs with successful AH.

100% of my trading with another players, I never remember their name nor knowing them at all lol
Who I just traded with, I have no idea. All I knew is that I got my items or currency in my inventory and the player that I traded with is just stalling my time to get the item I want.

I'm not sure implementing an AH is the solution though, I'm very skeptical about it. Most MMO I played having an AH and it just not that impressive compare to what we are doing with trading with other players in this game now.

I thought my suggestion was a good idea for in game trading

http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/857320

Guess I missed something, or just that it was a shit idea.

Basically, I tried to gear my idea (linked above) towards the current trading system without the need for the other party to be online at the same time.

Player 1: Sticks items up for sale / trade into new "trade" window.
Player 1: Logs off and goes to bed.

PLayer 2: Searches (using trade window) for item they way. Finds its. Makes offer to player 1 using trade window.

Player 3: Makes offer on same item as player 2 (Just an example. Player 3 cannot see what player 2 has offered. They won't even know Player 2 has made an offer - this helps prevent RMT )

Player 1: Logs back in. Looks at offers. Player 1 won't know who has made an offer, they just see what has been offered - again, this will help prevent RMT.

Player 1: Accepts offer from Player 3 (again, they won't know who the offer was from - it just makes this crappy example easier to follow). Player 3's offer goes into Player 1's stash. The item for sale goes into Player 1's stash.

Player 2: Offered trade for Player 1's item goes back into their stash

Player 3: Player 1's item goes into their stash.

====================

Again, it's quite an old post and probably a shit idea - which is why it was probably ignored. But I thought I would chip-in anyway.

No there aren't. AH means you bid for something and if your bid is the highest you automatically get the item. Or you buy the item for the buyout price and automatically get it. With poe.xyz there's no automation. Which is good, because it makes trading much less efficient in comparison to an AH. I also don't know of an RPG or MMO where literally all items are tradeable and which still uses an AH. D3 tried that and failed miserably. Every other game I know makes the above average items soulbound.

Less efficient = good? Are we playing the same game here? Because I despise the current trade system of forum posts, garbage on the notice boards and trade chat full of spambots that make your eyes bleed. POE.XYZ, a third party site, has made trade tolerable but just barely since it takes forever to sync up times with others for trading. Trading would be less important if a proper crafting system were in place but since GGG prefers gambling (and calls it crafting) trade is essential for gearing.

There is literally no positive effect on my life gained through a p2p trade experience. I would prefer to simply browse items for sale and click purchase to the three ring circus currently in place.

Yes, less efficient = good. People are already crying how trading is much more viable than farming, and now you want to substantially buff trading even further? I don't get it. As I said before, an AH would mean you would never be able to sell your mediocre gear, while top gear would become even more expensive. How is that good for the average player?

People saying that an AH in Diablo 3 was bad idea are probably thinking in black and white or 0-1 categories. the only bad and harmful effect of D3's AH was real money part of it. The AH that dealt with the in-game gold was perfectly fine.

Some form of an auction house that preferably allows for off-line trading would be one of the best improvements for PoE, along with fixing desnych. The latter is very unlikely to happen so let's hope the former is getting implemented real soon.
