Dominus is to hard for melee characters
" Does doing him with a dualwield build with 0 block nodes count? It has high resists but has to avoid all the touch of gods. My friend regularly does modded dominus with that and has done double palace dominus. You're overrating dominus, I can not agree with your assessment. Sure doing him with fleet + frenzy charges makes him do touch of gods crazy fast but for all intents and purposes we should be discussing his base form. We can talk all day about how terrible piety is in minus max. Last edited by kasub#2910 on Jun 16, 2014, 1:26:00 PM

+1 to distraction, if your melee character is there alone and takes all the damage and agro, you will have trouble.
Even level 1 skills takes one hit to die and that is the time to do some damage to Him. Totems, minions all can be used. For the first phase, Vaal skeletons are very good... they take down his ES and survive long enough, so you can to do some "free" damage. d:-D*

Manually dodging ToG is RNG based.
I've had the worst times in PoE with Dominus, it's just out of my comprehension range, why would someone release that kind of a boss on this engine with all these game's issues. |

I agree with you as a 2h'd melee, Dominus is brutal. In fact, it wasn't until I undertook my current tank project that I have ever killed dominus on any level, without dying.
My current project is a 1h'd Molten Strike + Shield. I can't even run Tempest Shield + Hatred + Vitality at the same time yet. I also had just 2800 HP when I fought him in Cruel. 2800 is MORE THAN FINE in Cruel. If you have 50% block. as a 2h'd melee? He's awful. You don't have enough innate defense to take care of him. Dual Wield has block. Shields give block. Range has range. Unless you are using a staff, your defenses suck as melee. And even a staff is... laughable. |

" yeah, 2H is brutal. even the minions are a big problem. if you don't have 4k life and a really strong AoE, don't even bother. but 2H builds are underwhelming in general, much to my disappointment. |

" And has he never died doing this? Because for all intention and purposes i am discussing this subject from a hardcore perspective. If so, it is impressive, equally as it is lucky. Peace, -Boem- " Indeed. That's the main reason why people create builds that survive RNG glitches, like the video's leary93 posted demonstrate. Stacking hp with legacy kaoms to survive if a manual dodge is countered by RNG Stacking spell block to survive if a manual dodge is countered by RNG etc. . . Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes

" Indeed. It's based on this build which you notice was created by the top invasion player(at the time) http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/918971 I don't get why the touch of god is more rng based than any other boss. It has a smaller range than vaal smash. Desync is evident in the entire game, arguing against dominus just because of that is silly. Last edited by kasub#2910 on Jun 16, 2014, 2:33:04 PM

" Because Dominus is the god of desync. I am arguing against Dominus precisely because of the desync, quoting myself: " |

@kasub, exaltons build is theory-crafted around the concept of surviving desync/rng.
Since it will leach back 100% of active life value with every single hit. I wager you wont find any single hardcore build that is not theory-crafted around this concept. Since they won't be successful and won't be in the top-ladder.(ripperino syndrome) The concept of that build is easy, have a large enough EHP pool to survive anything the game throws at you for a single duration and leach that entire damage output back with every single hit. Which in return makes you RNG immune if you did the numbers correctly. And is the basis of why his build was successful on hardcore to begin with. Peace, -Boem- " It can be followed up right after he blinks on-top of you, this with the current engine problems was bad design. And he was (prior to atziri) the last content boss added to the game, given the knowledge GGG has around there engine, it's performance issue's etc. This is just an insult to players. Also vaal is only prone to "desync" because of package loss, since he is in a wide open area without obstacles, dominus is prone to "all forms of desync" because of how the room and fight is ordered. GGG need's to start being realistic when they release new content and make it in line with what there engine can handle. Else from my point of view, it is delivering a direct bad-player-experience to there customers, and in full awareness on top of it. Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes

" Spellblock is for the laserbeam... Id love to go to invasion and do dominus on the palace, but im not on invasion, and even though i could make you quit the game, i wont, thats harsh. I know why he is using the items, but Colby doesnt seem to use the items right? I tried to prove that melee is able to shred dominus pretty easily, not that desync doesnt exist. I might not have anything valuable to teach you, but im not the one whining about every little issue about the game. I know why desync is even around, and I know that racers do dominus easily too, as long as its not a 2hr< race, and yes, that is melee too. yes, it is normal dominus, but its dominus. Desync is desync and even normal dominus can kill you if you desync. Im just saying, desync is 90% avoidable. The other 10% is the connection. Ign: Leary_AscendedNecro
