Dominus is to hard for melee characters

Just did Dominus on cruel.

and died like 6 times.

I was using Granite and Topaz Flasks.
I have 77 Resist all.
2800 life.
4200 Armor.
I used a leveled life leech for this fight, not the one equipped now.

First time with melee for me (did him 3 times with ranged skills).

His Ground shock Aoe is almost unavoidable, there is so much desynch and delay, its almost impossible to get away in time.

A Melee character also struggles with killing all the ads which then increase in numbers so much that they become a problem too.
If i focus on the ads, the fight will take forever...

At this point in the game you wont be able to 1 shot every mob with leap slam, so what am i supposed to do?

Staying close to him (like in "melee") result in getting shocked, permachilled or just rekt by hist fist lightning attack while all the ads destroy you armor with their fast attacks.
Even if you try to kill the ads now, have fun doing so still being permachilled...

Second Phase is a little bit easier, but still...
It seems impossible to me to kill his ads efficiently while not leaving the protection bubble or get rekt by dominus.
If you miss a hit or a leap slam (hello desynch) u suddendly lost your life leech and die.

I cannot really get Endurance Charges in that fight and even if I do they burn so fast on Immortal Call.

The whole fight is like you lose life all the time at a consistent rate and no matter what you do or how many flasks you use, your life keeps getting down...
and of course its absolutely undoable without porting to town like 10 times...

I had no problem killing his champions or any other boss in the game, i rolled through cruel with ease, but this boss fight is just way to hard for melee.

Using a ranged ability, this fight becomes much easier, i think this is pretty imbalanced, there should be something done about it.
Just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get me.

Yes i agree. Dominus is a pain for melee charachters. I think the trick is to stack enough effective life to survive one hit from his touch of god attack becuase it's really hard to avoid.

The ranged lightning stream hurts a lot too but touch of god scares me more.
Don't waste time killing his adds. Just attack him with an aoe attack and let it take care of adds surrounding you. You may wanna kill some ranged adds when they increase too much in numbers.

Also you only have to stay in the circle when it's lit so to speak. When it's unlit you can safely move around outside it.

Dominus boss is best skipped as melee.

Hi kompaniet and KalHirol ! I feel your pain when I first started up my melee character !! Here are few guidelines to help melees char to deal with dominus :

1.) Use decoy totem to lure away those exploding zombies ! Smoke mine to hide away from his lightning attack !

2.) Stay away from the shocking ground if possible , you will take tons of damage due to the
shock debuff.

3.) Get a flask to remove bleed effect for phase 2.

4.) when he does the emote " attack of god " or something , do not stand in front of him , he might one shot you !

5.) Use environment to LOS incoming attack.

Hope it helps !!

feel free to pm in game if u needed help

I am melee, and in normal mode, I could kill him after dying like 10 times, until his life level goes to zero. The technic is attack, escape, attack , escape, (I used whriling blades).
Get enfeeble man, wtf is up with warlords curse in that set-up?

And weapon elemental damage on heavy strike? o.O

I do agree however that this boss is badly designed.

One of the reasons vaal is so greatly designed and "is allowed" a "one hit KO mechanic" is because he is stationary when he uses it.

Unlike dominus, who can just blink on your ass, and proceed with touch of god.

Vaal will probably also desync once in a blue moon, but dominus, because of blink + one hit mechanic.....not worth the efforts on hardcore imo.

When two witches watch two watches, which witch watches which watch?
If the witches watching watches watch the same watch while you watch which witch watches which watch, they switch watches; then, the watch switching witches watch which watch you watch.
Watching witches watch watches is not for the faint of heart...
Imo ranger has it worse. I've had no issues before as a melee.
Get more life. 2800 life is considered too low for a melee char.

And you messed up your gem setup. Heavy strike - Multi - Melee phys - add fire can do well

If you want to beat Dominus effectively as a melee, try cyclone dude :D
Dominus' first phase needs a rework imo. Theres way too little uptime on him for close range characters without eating either his ghosts or touch of god. And eating either of those requires you to have ridiculous gear or levels.

They need to give him some more skills so he doesn't use his ghosts 10 times in a row anymore.

At the current time Dominus pretty much forces you into a party unless you are abusing some of the more broken leveling skills. Since in a party you will easily have 1 melee to facetank him in p2 and 1 ranged for p1 all while removing focus from just one person.
If you learn his patterns and behavior cruel Dominus is not so hard. My melee scion took him out without any real difficulty. I am a bit lucky to find a pretty good weapon to begin the fight, but I'm not packed with godly gear either.

Sorry OP, but I'm not sure I agree with you here.
