Social Interaction from Gaming

I don't have the time to play around other peoples schedules so a static group is just not possible. Playing with random strangers you end up with some of the worst people the internet has to offer at times. I would rather play solo than to have to deal with the idiots you sometimes encounter. I play this game to relax and have fun. Social interactions over the internet often doesn't lead to a relaxing fun time.

I made my own thread here, about guilds and whats happening to them, presenting with nothing more than the question/concept, and people responded in useful, supporting comments. The only reason this thread failed is because of the way your presented it. Don't say "no matter how i present it people will still bash it" attitude, because you have tried all of 1 way to do it.

Personally, I keep a very healthy balance of game and real life socialization. I do, however, like to get socialization in my games, as I mentioned before. I also have friends over almost every day and I hang out with some friends at the nursing home down the street. We have whiskey parties in the smoke room. The nurses hate me. I think most of my friends are using me for my good cooking, though. I'm not suggesting that people sit in front of their computers during all their free time. I'm just trying to see what people are thinking about how to make POE better for socialization during game time, however short or long that time is. I'm starting to think this whole thing is a futile waste of my time. I had such a high opinion of the POE community before I posted this thread. Sad.

I think the "get some real life social interaction" argument is invalid here... or at least when it comes to certain cultures. Not everyone lives in places like Spain, New York or any other country/state/city where people tend to socialize on a daily basis. I live in a part of Holland where people are obsessed with planning, keeping their schedule and not spending any money at the same time. In other words, where people tend to be greedy and antisocial. So, if you don't fit this picture you start to look for any social interaction someplace else. Like in an online video game. Seriously, when you call your friends to ask if they wanna dine with you tonight and they go like "oh, yeah, sure, sounds great, lemme check my schedule... I have time... in like 6 weeks!" you say "f**k this s**t, I'm gonna log in to Mumble/Teamspeak/GameVox to talk to my PoE guildies".

Please word your comments more carefully then. From my standpoint it looks like you were saying that my thread was so much worse because it only had 5 posts, and that it would have so much less without you.
