Pretty much if u wanted to do the trade u put the sh*t in the window and hit accept.. else.. u didn't. No tears or threats.. u couldnt even /ignore as far as i recall.

Back in the day, we used to have to go to Mud Flats and drop our items to trade (ignore was in the game at this point, actually). That being said, there were not many scammers, maybe one or two. Turns out having one chat makes it damn hard to get away with scamming people without being immediately named and shamed for the community.
