Path of Trading milestone achieved: "price" feature implemented in poe.xyz.is
" Just because a company uses a word wrongly, doesnt mean it suddenly changes meaning. See, the terminology is "auction" this means several bids will go in for the item, until noone will bid higher, thus the price is met. Usually, this is met with some time limit (in real life, a few minutes, in games and online auction houses usually a few days) The term buyout means, that at the specified bid, the item will sell instantly, forgoing the time limit. This is mainly used in acutions, where the seller has a pretty good idea of the top market value of the item, he doesnt see it selling for higher, so he specifies a buyout to save time and to let buyers see what the top market value is (so they can place realistic bids). Now, if soemthing has a *price* its just that. This item is offered for this amount of money, no less, buy it or leave it. In any but the last example, anyone that is getting an offer below intended buyout (or market value, if no buyout is set) really has no reason to get upset, they should have specified that they want to sell this item at this price, instead of partaking in an auction. tldr. your illiteracy is your own fault. |

" Buyout means buyout, not bid nor offer. If I wanted bids or offers, I wouldn't set a Buyout price. Also, for fucks sake, don't ''Friend'' me just because you want to buy something from me. I want your orbs, not your friendship. Also, If you offer something lower than my set buyout price and I say no, don't get all pissy and say you could get something better for way lower than what you offered me. I lowball myself all the time, depending on what first impression I get from a buyer. If you seem like a nice guy, you'll get a better price, if you come in balls a blazing, I won't sell the item to you. It's my shit and I'll decide if I want you to have my shit or not. " Buyout means the price that you would instantly sell the item for. Buyouts still leave room for lower bids for some sellers, so the introduction of a "price" tag helps buyers differentiate between those who are flexible and those who are not. As for the part about friending people, it's far more effective for finding when people are online if the seller is not online the first time you try to reach them. I will agree, however, that it is annoying that sellers receive a friend request and the buyer has no control over removing said request or not sending one at all. |

" Dude, just stop. Nobody honestly cares about what the word-for-word definition of a buyout is. This is some straight up Asbergers shit. Let it go man. The whole ~price thing may alleviate some of this perceived confusion over time. But don't expect to be buying Kaoms for 3 exalts tomorrow. IGN: Smegmazoid

Wait a minute. Isn't the whole point of an economy game to promote interaction and friendship between players? This thread doesn't seem so neighbourly to me.

" How would that be my point? (second paragraph) Im not looking to buy things cheaper than market value, i personally think time spent playing is more valuable than time spent trading, thus i go for fixed prices, mostly. What i am trying to get through here, is that if you mean something, you should clearly say it. Buyout, ot "Bin" "Buy it now", whatever, all clearly state there is an *auction* going on. Otherwise, those words dont make sense, do they? To rephrase one of the examples used earlier in this thread (i think, milk was used? whatever, milk it is) A customer enters the shop and wants to buy milk, it usually costs a dollar anywhere else, but instead of a obvious pricetag, there is a little message next to it: "Buy it now, for 1 Dollar" the poor customer is happy, the buy it now for "x" means, "if you dont buy it now, you will not have to pay the full price later, if you have the patience". Full of hope, the customer runs towards the clerc, asking him: "Hey brah, i herd you sell milk, i offa 75 cents!" The clerc answers: "How dare you show interest in a product i have! Either buy it now, or die in a fire. I would rather throw my milk away than give it to you bottom feeders! Technically, i didnt make clear that offers under one dollar are unacceptable, but screw that shit. tldr. make it clear that your buyout is your pricetag, or accept that people will assume there is an auction going on. |

" No better way to create hostility between players than to create an influential economy. This message was delivered by GGG defence force.

" Back in the day, we used to have to go to Mud Flats and drop our items to trade (ignore was in the game at this point, actually). That being said, there were not many scammers, maybe one or two. Turns out having one chat makes it damn hard to get away with scamming people without being immediately named and shamed for the community. |
