D3 ROS loot/end game better then POE
" So, you don't like ARPGs in which you're supposed to play the game to find the items to then play the harder difficulty on the game and get better items? LOL, what? Please explain to me why you play PoE, to buy your items then aimlessly kill monsters for no reward at all due to you already purchasing the gear you need? What it boils down too is killing monsters for loot is better than browsing a third party website to buy what you need, regardless if killing monsters takes twice as long trading or not, playing the game is better than playing a trade simulator. itemization is a joke in D3 and challenge/risk-reward is a joke in PoE.
So I'd say one is for people who enjoy crafting/trading items more than playing the game, and the other is for people who wanna have some fast-paced action while caring less about items. |

" This is still critically unfair of the genre like D3 and PoE. itemization and loot is always a joke unless you find what you want, the random nature of the genre means more then often you won't find exactly what you want. By making it less random people complain that's is too easy because they aren't feeding their gambling addiction and the feeling they "found" something good. Honestly I don't think the genre has the mass appeal people think they like, it's kinda like the idea of reading a book. People would agree it can be an amazing fun activity that opens up a whole new world of ideas and fantasy, but how many people actually do that these days? " Okay let's be honest here, PoE and D3 is not a hard game. They are not hard, I can steamroll the game both in PoE and D3 with new characters. You play the game to mindlessly kill monsters and enjoy game with a sense of progression. All of you people have an obsession of loot this and upgrade that that completely kills the point of why you play arpgs. It's the complete enjoyment of ACTUALLY killing monsters. I don't kill monsters to enjoy the loot that comes out of them, I kill monsters for loot that will allow me to kill more monsters or kill more monsters in different out ways. This literal obsession of higher numbers puzzles me and D3 and PoE are both really good games. I play both because the games are extremely enjoyable in providing me ways to kill monsters and different ways of killing them as will as a sense of progression that I'm getting more powerful. The reward is fun, I enjoy playing the games. Fucking pixles on the screen aren't "rewards" They mean nothing to me, they don't provide me anything in life nor do they pay my bills. I'm not "rewarded" with loot, the game has to be rewarding in fun. I play single player arpgs or games that give nothing to you at all or anything to be competitive with people. I don't need a "reward" to play them, they are just fun to play. You on the other hand need to go play WoW or something. And yes I also played WoW with max level characters and end game raid gear with high rankings in pvp. Last edited by RagnarokChu#4426 on Apr 3, 2014, 1:26:33 PM

" Well you aren't the only one, I vendored a pretty awesome 1H axe a few days ago by accident. come to town - pawn your loot come to town - pawn your loot come to town - pawn your loot come to town - pawn your loot come to town - pawn your loot come to town - pawn your loot come to town - pawn your loot come to town - pawn your loot come to town - pawn your loot come to town - pawn your loot come to town - pawn your loot ... ooops Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.

All these posts about not finding upgrades after many paragons are silly.
The exact same thing happens in PoE. The difference is, you get gear by killing monsters in D3 without paying for them (monsters), and you get gear by trading in PoE. It just goes down to what someone likes more (when we put aside the performance issues). |

I dont remember the last time in PoE when I was lvl 80+ and wearing a single item that i had found myself.
Even when I found a lightning coil, I sold it for 1 ex, and spent a few more ex to get a 5 link version, since I was pretty sure I'd end up wasting more than that amount of fuses/jewellers to link it myself. I guess that is the definition of 'good itemization'?? :P sell, sell, sell, sell, buy, sell, sell, sell, sell, buy, sell, sell, sell, sell, buy, when ur tired take a break and play a few maps for 1/2 hour, then back to.. sell, sell, sell, sell, buy, sell, sell, sell, sell, buy, sell, sell, sell, sell, buy.. |

" ARPG's are about loot and killing mobs for loot, and they always will be. You don't care about loot which makes your opinions on an ARPG a bit redundant. You're just ignoring the core aspect of ARPGs that have been around since the beginning, and then telling me I'm playing the wrong genre rofl. You strike me as the type of guy who would fire up a racing game, and drive backwards because it's 'fun' even though you're totally dismissing the main goal of the game. |

" There is no difference, if you focus on "gear" in a video game then you spend time to acquire gear. If the sole focal point of fun in a game is "gear" you will do your best to get the best gear possible asap? Do you know what people do in D3? They do runs were they skip monsters and break only stuff/flip rocks/open chest because it gives the most legendary an hour. They play the adventure bounty mode on normal to get the reward after you do 5 quests asap for more legendary. Hell they don't even play in a group together properly and they all split up to steamroll the game in normal to do 4 at a time (you need to do 5 to get the reward) so you can speed run through the bounty. A focus on loot causes people to do not fun things because it's more optimal and then they complain that they aren't having as much fun. " Your opinion that ARPG's are about loot and that killing monsters just for loot is better then my opinion? I'm pretty sure I'm drastically having much more fun in video games as well as a billion times richer then you and more successful in D3 and PoE. If I wanted to drive backwards in a racing game because it's fun what is the problem? I paid for the game, and I can do whatever the hell I want on it. It's like saying people are playing skyrim or grand theft auto wrong when they play 100s of hours on it not doing the main storyline quest or dicking around. " It's not an opinion, it's the core aspect of ARPGs since they were introduced.. If you want to play a racing game and drive backwards then please, do so at your leisure, same as if you want to kill mobs without caring for loot on an ARPG, but you may as well argue that water isn't liquid if you think ARPGs aren't about loot :). And your examples of Skyrim and GTA go against your argument, as they are both open world non linear games meaning the whole idea is to go out and 'dick around'. You see the pattern here? " That is a difference, in the way how you get the gear, on the time however, I agree. I'm aware of that, I have a friend whose father is an ultimate D3 grinder, they also do exp runs in the areas with those "mothers" that puke zombies, they send a Monk to scoop out the area and then they enter with areas full of zombies. It's just extremities, there are extremities here in PoE too. Like I've said, it all comes down to what you like, if you like your gear to be dropped while you kill shit, D3 is the way. If you like to get it by trade, then PoE is the way. But there are 2 things that made me switch from PoE to D3 at the moment, those are: no more wasting currency to buy Orbs of Experience instead of upgrading my gear and no more FPS issues. And so far how thing are going there, I don't think I'll handle those things in PoE ever again. I'm not burned out on PoE, I'm burned out on those 2 points, which are getting worse and worse as the time passes. And I do agree with a lot of things you've wrote in your previous post.
