Brian's Feedback to Looting (quote from reddit)

While I support their choice with loot.

The consequences of that are that I flat out refuse to group. The worst aspect of any multiplayer game is always other players, and allowing other players to "steal" from one another just isn't an experience I feel like participating within.

I'm still going to play, and show off my Kiwi and cosmetics in town, probably for quiet awhile.

But I will NEVER group with random people as long as FFA loot is a part of the game, its just not worth it.

how are they stealing if the item was never yours to begin with, the timer is there to give you a chance at it, if you let timer go, ITS FFA

the whole group helped killing things, so the items belong to the group.

Please don't let us - hardcore gamers - down. This is why we supported you. We understand why FFA loot is crucial in this kind of game, and so do you.

Be tough, don't fall!

Nope this is not why we - hardcore players - supported you.

@mushioov
See i can speak for all hardcore players too \o/

Dear Brian, as far as I can tell from chatting online, very few people are using your loot rules anyway. They are either playing exclusively with their friends who share everything anyway, or they are making gentleman's agreements and devising their own rules. Why keep your rules if very few using them? As a consequence of the current system I think you have killed off public multiplayer in the game. Many many people would rather play solo than group with strangers who may give into temptation regardless of any agreement made in advance. This is a great shame for the game as a whole.

I do not think anyone wants the FFA loot to be removed. People would simply like to have the option to turn it off when they feel like it. It's all about options.

There is no "tough choice" in having all your loot hoovered by someone using Leap when you are not using Leap. No choice. Nothing you can do about it.

Just out of curiosity...which groups are you seeing using "gentleman's agreements"? Certainly not public parties, because I sure as hell never saw anyone even talking on public parties. Heck, in the PPs I've joined, I only saw one guy who pickd "someone else's loot" and then said on chat "hey, I think I got <item> that had your name on it, do you want it back?". Other than that, every single group was pure FFA, with no communication other than "need portal" and "exit is here".

As for your Leap comment, this might sound a bit jackass, but...you can use Leap too. Or flicker strike, +movement item, or whatever else, if that's a problem. I sure as hell "abuse" flicker strike to get loot when I can, and I know that if I don't, someone else will do and take "my" loot.

Also, Brian comments that other players might as well be bots on a Diablo 3 / TL2 loot style system, but in all my parties in PoE till this point, the other players might as well have been bots that can pick up loot I don't disagree with the FFA loot, but that analogy was just terrible.

All that said, I also don't see this killing public parties at all. I have absolutely no trouble getting into a public party and, with all the competition for loot, I have not had any negative experience playing in parties at all. No one complaining about losing "his loot", no one purposedly griefing in any way, no one doing anything "bad" at all other than, sometimes, focusing more on the loot than killing mosters.

TL;DR It's fine the way it is, IMO.

There is nothing cut-throat about NOT being able to retaliate or enforce any rules...

Developers and pro-FFA should get their head about it. Cut the "hardcore speak" because there is nothing hardcore about who has better computer/connection (was funny playing with 350 ping right now while killing Vaal) and best pick-up script (D2 all over again) without consequences.

I understand some of the logic behind it, but a lot of it is flawed. Give us tools to enforce things at least, I could care less then how loot is distributed. Thing is: you can't socialize if there are no tools to socialize, it's like you want people to play solo.

How to retaliate:

1 - Create party.
2 - Kick anyone that disagrees with your choosen looting method.

Retaliation complete.

Right on
+1

The loot vigilance metagame combined with balancing your survival and damage output is fucking great. It adds a whole nutter level to the experience.

Really sick of seeing this BS excuse. D2 Pick-it worked very well *IF and only if, the person was using teleport as a skill. Pick-it would attempt to tele you and snag item. Fast simple, worked. If you didnt use tele... well what a joke pick-it really was.

This game doesnt have instant teleport. Flicker Strike ... sure but not quite. Leap - bah not instant enough...

And even at that... Cheaters gonna cheat. Who cares. Ignore, move on. My god, why is everyone so full of complaints. I hear Blizzard loves complainers, perhaps post these issues on their boards?

GGG - Why you no?
Hardcore is not about FFA, thats another term entirely: Cuthroat.
Cutthroat, in which i can make sure the ninja looter get the *karma reward* they deserve after stealing my loot is fine as a *choice* of playstyle.

And if one goes by the theme of PoE:
Exiles, trying to survive.
Its also in direct contradiction.
Humans develop law, co-operation and such things to easier survive.
Being a loot stealing jerk that steals anything nor nailed down and valuable isnt beneficial to the make-shift-society as a whole.
Did tarkleigh say "Great, thx. ill steal your loot now lol" as a *reward*. NO
Did any of the NPCs asking for help *steal or grief the player*. NO (as far as i know)

The *true exiles* is the ones that band together and form a respectable community and a semi-decent law system and ways to share resourses.

So now we have 4 ways to say mediocre-core-timer-tease-FFA loot is bad.

Choice of preferred style of looting is better.
(Doesn harm anyone)

Exiles would have some sort of law system to share resourses as equally as possible in place.
(Science)

Its been shown in history that law&order&communities appear out of the necessity to survive better.
(History)

Ninja loot griefers will probably be treated as outcasts by exiles as they ruin chances of survival in a hostile land.
(psychology)

And if even Science&Psychology&History is met by "whine whine whine".
Great community this is then, i mean debunking such nice things to just wanna ninja loot grief and ruin other players fun, seems like it will be good for retaining players if this is the way issues is discussed.

Also: Oh noes verbally shame and punish... whatever i shall i do in this f2p game, i might just create many accounts and circumvent any blacklist that is being created.

Good way to put it, P-serve.
Forum needs a "Favourite this Post" type button so I can quote from ones like this.
if GGG were to implement new FFA system.

id like see it like

FFA - loot drops rates stays the same or increase by 25%

50% more time to loot - 25% decrease in drop rates.

Non FFA, personal loot - 50% decrease in drop rates.

Grouping makes the game so easy and faster XP.
Must have some sort of penalty for easier loot option. IMO

so many loot thread. sry for copy paste but this is my idea of FFA
