Please add loot rules. (Need or Greed, FFA, Loot Timers, etc.)

This is a repost of my thread several days back from beta feedback forums: http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/78314

Currently I and many others can't play in a public party and still have fun. The reason is because of FFA loot. I understand many people find the idea of 'stealing' the good loot as quick as possible fun, but I don't. I would much prefer the simple roll system that many other games use. When a valuable item comes up you can Need, Greed, or Pass. You might be wondering what's stopping someone from need rolling everything? Well quite simply they would be kicked by the leader pretty fast.

Now keep in mind I'm asking for loot rules, not an overhaul of the loot system. The party leader could still set rules to FFA if they so desired. Meanwhile the people that want to actually focus on killing stuff and helping the party can because they don't have to get ready to ninja every piece of gear that drops.

There is no reason the only option for looting is this archaic system from the 90's. Yes many people enjoy it, but many people also enjoy playing civilized. There is absolutely no reason that so many should be denied the joy of public parties because it's a grab fest.

The only thing FFA only looting is doing to your game, GGG, is reducing your audience.(and income as a result).

Just to be clear, I completely respect that some people like FFA looting. But people who like fair and honest systems, like Need or Greed, should have there opinions respected too.

Are people so dense they can't notice the 10+ other threads on the forum about this issue already? They're on the fucking front page.

Yes I do see them. But they are mostly filled with flaming and trolling. Not to mention I scanned through a few myself, and noone seems to even acknowledge the possibility for loot rules. Everyone is completely focused on having one set of rules for everyone, which is not ideal.
So someone who needs non stopped can be kicked but someone who takes all the loot marked for others cannot? Maybe you should spend as much time speak to your party members as you are complaining on the forums.

The loot system is fine, better than fine in fact. It's fucking fantastic. If you dislike it, find an easier to play game or something.

And you think your thread ISN'T going to devolve into flaming and trolling and dead-end discussion? In case you didn't notice, there's been 3 or 4 100 page threads on this issue alone, there's nothing left to be said -- it's exhausted. GGG knows what some number of the playerbase wants and I'm sure they will come up with an accomodation in time that keeps both kinds of players happy. But I don't think it's as trivial as adding a loot mode (as that would likely kill any and all FFA looting in public parties).

It's very hard to tell who ninjad what in a loot timer system. Ninja'ing when the loot timer is gone can't be enforced because you can't be sure who stole the stuff.

It may be fine for you and many others, but for me and many others it isn't fine. It's not fun, it doesn't promote working as a team, and it discourages people from sticking with the game. Which then results in a lower playerbase, which means less money, which means less servers, I think you get it.

The whole point of loot rules is to keep the FFA lovers happy while giving everyone who doesn't like FFA a much more pleasant experience.

and that's a problem? It's clearly a minority that likes FFA, vocal as they are. They could still setup FFA paries themselves, if people want to join it so be it.

This is the problem though, the FFA lovers seem to know that if there's another option FFA will die and they won't be able to steal all the loot they can anymore. So they scream at the top of there lungs how FFA is perfect, hoping GGG will believe them.

Bump.
Please take responsibility for your own loot.

It's not GGG's fault you weren't paying attention.

Choose your party carefully and watch your drops.

This is the point. I don't want to watch my drops nor should I have to. I want to support my team on focusing on what I SHOULD be focusing on, which is killing things. All FFA does is turn a team against each other, it halves productivity, and it creates fueds.

It isn't fun for people that like to actually play. It sure is fun though for those that like to steal and not support the team.

Just because you don't "want to watch my drops" doesn't mean the system is broken.

Seriously, you arent paying attention to the loot hitting the floor?

They've even dimmed the other players timers so yours stick out.

You lost a rare or a good orb to someone playing with strangers and it upset you.

Your response, instead of "Hmm i should try to be quicker about grabbing my drops" is "THIS IS BROKEN CHANGE IT"

The loot system is working perfectly.
