Suggestions for new character naming

Ok, so I know I'm not the only player here who gets irritated when the character name you had in your head is already taken and you lack the inspiration to come up with another.

There are two solutions to this, one of which should SERIOUSLY be applied to any/every game that allows for multiple characters to be created on one account.

This solution which is oddly not seen on that many games is that the only name that should face the restriction of being unique, should be the account name. All character names should simply be bound to that name. (example: "TheSkyReaper-CharacterName" The account name could be omited at certain places.)

Yeah, this would probably make people see a couple of names repeatedly, but so what? There are more then two Erics in the world last I checked. Let the fanboys call themselves by whatever unoriginal names they can come up with, and let us slightly more original players not bang our head on the desk because some completely abstract name we came up with happened to be picked already.

Should this not be a viable option for whatever reason, the second solution is a must. A random name generator. Some people don't want to have a character called shoppingcart335.

Anyway, please consider implementing one of these two options. I'm seriously sick of being (pardon the term) ****blocked by name restrictions in online games. It's an outdated formality that will be an increasingly frustrating problem as the online gaming community grows larger.

Yes, listen to this man! You are seriously just begging for people to create rediculous names like "Kyyyllleee" because "Kyyllee" was already taken, let alone "Kyle" or something.

Also to the OP, thankfully you will never get to name yourself shoppingcart335, because the game devs won't allow numbers in character names- but this kind of just limits the number of names you can have. I whole heartedly agree on not letting names have numbers or special characters though. However the fact that you can't even have a space in your name is just crazy.

I actually stopped playing the game because I was like "Oh- man... ALL the names I have ever used are already taken..." and I have a LOT of names I've used. Then I just decided to mash my keyboard so that I could just get into the game. -_- Okay so I slightly modified the name after mashin' it in- long live "Gythvic" the Duelist!

If the reason for the option of binding character names to the account name is not a satisfactory solution due to security reasons, then worst off just have players chose an aditional name for their account. A log-in name, an account name visible to everyone and then the character names. It would be just as secure as the current format this way.

This really should be adressed soon. Open beta's hardly begun and already there are severe problems in finding a name that wasn't picked.

Just being able to add a space mark or special characters (such as "-") should make naming a lot easier and cleaner.

Are you serious? Are people really so lazy that they can't possibly come up with a unique name on their own, and therefore demand we get to use the same name for multiple characters? I did a quick check on google, so here you go:

All you have to do is pick what type of name you want from the drop down list (or let it stay as Default if you are too lazy to even do that), then click Generate Names, and hey presto, here's a whole bunch of unique names for you. Or what do you say about names like Grumbleface Dorkdip, Bumphead Dumbsnark or Dobdork Bridiot? Those are just three random examples I came up with in one minues, complete with first- and lastname.

Or they could use diablo 3 idea and make account name unique and character name anything you want. works for them and works with similar system in guild wars 2
