Invasion players - no need to bash Standard Players

I think the only times that serious Invasion players get upset with standard players is when standard players are trying to make justifications or analysis of Invasion when they haven't even played it, or haven't played it to the same level. That's a major issue, and anyone that tries to tell an Invasion player how to play his league is being a complete jackass.

Probably. I might not say it cause some people are unreasonably touchy about race, but I'd think about it. Again: I'm not saying verbally abusing people is OK. It's not. I'm saying it happens all the time on the internet.

That was the point of everything I was writing: you are saying you don't want to be abused, I'm telling you what, IMO, is the best course of action - even if you care, at least pretend you don't.

Trolls get bored quickly if you don't bite.
You have to be realistic about these things.

You have several options with players who abuse you:

- Ignore (this is the wise decision, some say)

- Abuse them back. You can either go full retard with name-calling and all, or go sarcastic mode (I prefer the latter, it cuts deeper, unless the target is not intelligent enough to get it)

- Try to PK at bandits :)

I'd recommend getting a thicker skin tbh.

You can't stop people saying things, at least not entirely. And in the end what people for example say on their mumble, or private chats is no business of yours.

Saying things like scrubcore is also more comically than harassing.

Also most HC players might not be aware of the fact that we are the minority, and the vast majority of PoE players play on SC.

Wait until GGG finally get around PVP tournaments, then even HC players will play in SC and make their pvp builds there, and then you can just take em apart!
TC, I am an electrical engineer with a beautiful wife and kids as well. I still prefer hardcore leagues, but I'm curious why a few comments get under your skin so much. You have a greater sense of real world responsibility than other gamers. Don't fool yourself that standard is just as hard as hardcore though but, I recommend you play what you wanna play with your busy schedule in a way where you won't stress yourself out and that's what your doing.

Strong removed by supports in here.

I am afraid I cannot remember the exact time and I am on my way out the door, so no time to find it :(

If indeed we are 'competing' with teenagers who devote their 'life' to PoE, then I'd say in terms of life achievements, there's no competition at all.

...So let 'em have this cake. I've got lobster and caviar waiting. :)

Maybe someday they will too...but not today.

PS Yes, that was a metaphor.

That's what you're not getting: the problem is that you are overly sensitive about it, not that you're old. You have no control over your age, but you can adjust your attitude. Considering the environment you're in, you are putting yourself in a vulnerable position which can and will be abused by people who enjoy making others feel bad. If you expect GGG to apply your standards of forum moderation, I can only say: "good luck with that".

my five cents

p.s. just an example: I was completely bald in my early twenties, and when I posted a profile pic in a DotA forum, the kids immediately jumped at the opportunity: hey baldie what's up, egghead, etc.

The thing is, I don't give a fuck about it. They tried to offend me, I responded by making "bald guy" jokes myself. They saw I didn't give a fuck, and soon everyone stopped.

again, TLDR: less sensitivity, more sense of humor, less giving a fuck.

Seriously, I feel like I'm having a "High School Anti-Bullying 101" talk with a kid.

Ppl making fun of your looks is one thing, I give a crap too. I have no control over that, and the forums are full of ugly ppl, lets face it. Nerds and geeks like us just dont tend to be good / healthy looking, its sociology really.

Ppl making fun of your skill, knowledge, abilities ... hard not to take personal. For example, when you tell me 'I dont care enough to need to prove something to you', just the fact your replied shows you do.

Honestly I don't expect younger people to understand, and doesn't really matter to me if they do.

I know the 40+ crowd is in the minority here, and will never get much sympathy from the 'video game' community.

Just speaking up for us.

First of all, I think you underestimate the sheer quantity of "old gamers" we are naturally attracted to some games more then other but I know that most of guys of my generation which loved games, still do and most still play them, although not as much as before (I'm 36 btw) Gaming populace is getting older. It's a global phenomena, nothing strange there.

First of all I must say that I have over 99,99% of positive experiences from gaming communities in here and in general. I am dedicated player and I often (less lately, no time) lead guilds, administrating forums, writing guides, giving away charity gear and educating people and playing pretty good so people tend to stick around and respect gamers like that, no matter of age.

Secondly If I reveal personal data to someone, that usually means that we are already friends so mostly I have no troubles there. I like the company of mature and intelligent people and I tend to stick around those, irrelevant of age. I had good friend once while playing total war online, excellent player who was also embarrassed to reveal his age - because he was 15 :) My son is 12 he is also a pretty serious gamer, so I guess it's not about an age - you can be an asshole no matter how old (or young) you are :)
