Rares will always be BiS

Uniques can be BiS for certain builds. Wasn't it always like this?
GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.

As long as you allow build defining uniques (Facebreaker's, Romiro's Banquet+Coldsnap, Voll's chest), there will technically be "BiS uniques" in that builds will be unable to function without them. That's meaningless, though.
I think GGG's goal is more that you won't have an entire unique set of gear at once and that, bar the defining aspects of uniques, rare items can match them in potency. Read my book! koams heart (maximum life) maligaro (rares can not exceed its dps gain for a crit build) auxiom (anti freeze effect) shavs (low life) most of these are closer to 'vastly superior to a rare' rather than 'enables a niche' build. IGN: Arlianth

As a self found character only unique item that i was excited about was facebreaker. Every other unique that dropped was add to collection and forget. Itemization in this game is pretty dull.

It was never supposed to be 'Rares will always be best in slot'. It was 'Uniques serve specific functions'.
You build characters around a handful of cool uniques, the rares are there to make up for your weaknesses. Bullshit, you get the game for free.
