Rares will always be BiS

" Common sense, and actual results, say the quickest and most practical way to get something done, even in the ultra late game, is to deck your character out with overpowered uniques. Last edited by tikitaki#3010 on Mar 21, 2014, 9:41:36 AM

" so what you are really saying is you think that unique drop rate is OP compared to RNG rares, but those rares potentially could top those slots, which might explain why they are rarer drops? Hey...is this thing on? Last edited by LostForm#2813 on Mar 21, 2014, 9:57:25 AM

Oh wow, so rare shields can beat Saffells if you are trying to get your EHP against elemental damage high?
Tell me more. I must have forgotten about the +max ele resist rolls on rare shields. *facepalm* I must be tired this morning. Last edited by tikitaki#3010 on Mar 21, 2014, 10:08:59 AM

" And you haven't even picked an OP shield. |

I remember the day when Tinko dismissed Aegis and think very highly of his 2.4k Armor life tri res shield, but now he just keeps whining about how OP Aegis is.
Sigh we get it, you idealogy got smashed, but can't you be more constructive instead of post like the one above pls. |

" Pretty much this. Uniques are build-enabling which is really cool. Rares are BiS for stats which is really cool. Isn't this the perfect situation??!?!?! Sometimes I do wonder...... Just for try for see and for know -2013!

" Dismissed in what way? After I've tried playing with it, I've dismissed it as a piece of gear I'd use because it was too strong, I could've facetank every boss at that time, with decent gear (under 10 ex worth) + Aegis, on a 63rd level Witch. And I wanted a real challenge. Clearly you have no idea what you're talking about, in that time, I had a 1.7k shield, my current didn't existed, and the current one isn't 2.4k either, it's 2k. And I made both of them just because there wasn't any shield like that back then and I had plenty of currency to fool around and improve my gear (Lioneye's Remorse was the ugly thing that was bothering me). And shield was the most promising slot to improve my character. "Think very highly of his shield"? What exactly does this mean? Sure I thought very highly of my shield, because at that time it was the #1 rare shield in game (probably). But, is that an assumption that I've claimed it was the best shield? So, with a bunch of false information, what's exactly your point here? You can call it whining, but you can't discredit this: Aegis is the best in slot regarding defensive role (I'm saying defensive because of spell + crit ES shields). Not just best in slot... it's so much better than any other shield, that it really is astonishing how it even exists. I still cannot wrap my head around that, and sure, I'll keep on pointing on that disgusting/embarrassing shield imbalance (whining you may say), even though GGG have said that they don't want uniques to be better than perfect rares. Yet here we have something, that's not just better than a perfect rare, but incredibly better. My ideology got smashed? What's my ideology and what smashed it? Sure, my posts about shield imbalance aren't constructive, at least you've showed how a constructive post looks like. Last edited by tinko92#6447 on Mar 21, 2014, 12:24:44 PM

" If this was true, it would be perfect, sure. Considering it's not even remotely the case, there's a problem. It seems that people are evading the argument that unique items are best-in-slot, by referring to them as "build enabling." Basically, turning it into semantics. "Oh, my unique items aren't overpowered...they are just, you know...enabling my overpowered build." |
