Rares will always be BiS

yes certain uniques are bis for certain builds . the problem surfaces when a unique is bis for entire build type and tier catagory.


for examplepre nerfed bor was BIS item (if you were on a budget)

but it wasnt just good with blender, pretty much any melee build could make good use of it

including face breakers , blockers , dual wielders , leap slammers , staff users and even summoners.

the only things that beat it were 10 - 40 times more expensive to roll with, and even then losing blind on a 7l is like losing free 75% evasion chance.

All you have to do to make BiS rares again is be able to have them draw from a pool of mods not available on any unique.

Make mods from that pool attractive enough to try to get there; then reduce the rarity of Eternal orbs...

or they could fix crafting so that the items that can beat these uniques arent impossible to get with out deep pockets AND the luck of all the Irish distilled into one account.

Or maybe actually make a perfect rare to be able to outperform a unique.

that doesnt seem realistic either , since uniques are 10 times more common than the rares that beat them. for 99% of the player base those rares functionally don't exist.

If you are trying to maximize spell damage then why are you using a shield at all?

Why not just dual wield void batteries?

Much higher spell damage.
