This is the biggest slap to the face yet.

Destroy old balance to tailor it to newly OP items? With such dreadful legacy of OP items that have made standard disgusting to most of players? Have those guys learned NOTHING? You don't make OP items like that, ever. It's plainly stupid. MinMaxers and RMTers are gonna get them first all again. We have the whole circle of abuse and exploit all again. Have they learned nothing? Really? I cannot believe this.

Here's a fun thought. If these items are indeed game breaking, and ruin balance, how will people ever get these items? Meaning, they drop from the hardest content. But you don't need them to beat said content.

Antee you surprise me , You of all people should know that rarity does not affect balance.
Just because something is rare does not at all hinder the benefits it gives to those rich and powerful enough to acquire it.

This is why legacy items are a terrible idea because it does not affect anyone who already has said items. they still have their legacy kaoms Bors and Aegis A's and they are still just as powerful. You yourself quite notably avoid standard . possibly for this reason.

By the same token these new items are powerful, they will be nerfed which then puts forward the obvious question ... why the hell are they still doing this? (making op items balancing them on rarity and then when that shit doesnt work: legacy them).

And it does not work , the Bor And aegis A combo in the last leagues proved that rarity is a garbage balancer. If people want it , they will put the effort in to get it .
Even if it takes 10 hours or 100 hours, it makes no difference to the bottom line

I know this is kinda necroing, but I was at work doing Antnee stuff so I couldn't reply.

I've made it pretty clear in the past that I personally don't give two shits if there are people in the game who have gear 10x more powerful than I will ever personally see. This does not affect my gameplay experience one iota.

Now, if what Chris has said is true, and no one has even entered these areas let alone beat them, even in a league full of chars decked out in BiS legacy stuff, then I think we have hit the point where rarity *is* a factor in balancing. I have my doubts that anyone in the 4 month leagues is ever going to get these items at all, so the issue is a standard league one.

And yes, I don't play standard anymore. It has nothing to do with balance, or legacy items, or any of that stuff. I played Domination because I just joined the guild that day, and saw how much fun everyone was having, and wanted to play "with" you guys. In doing so, my preferences switched. I change opinions often, as anyone with an open mind should.

TL:DR, let the rich be rich, let the powerful be powerful. Antnee craves not these things.

Thats great thinking slayer, screw over 99.9999% of the player base so a goldy item like this even has a fucking purpose in the first place. Great feed back as usual

Vaal Pact minus all of it's drawbacks that also applies to mana? That saves you passive point and comes on a crazy pair of gloves? The closest thing these gloves have to a downside is you leech on crit, and only critters were taking VP anyway. This takes an already powerful ability and breaks it beyond sanity.

Just so you know, these uniques can't drop from any game area that a player has yet entered.

We expect there to be zero in the economy for some time.
Looks like this is real.

I don't know or care if these items are real. The art is datamined, the flavour text is pretty consistent with GGG's writing and the stats do seem to fit what I'd consider to be rewards for downing the hardest boss this game has ever seen.

The problem is that this concept, which Everquest1 really exemplified with 'epic weapons', is better suited to MMOs where bind-on-acquire or bind-on-equip is considered a good means of balancing items that simply break the majority of the game. Epic weapons required you to do a very, very grueling set of tasks, sometimes taking several months, but once you earned your epic weapon, the entire world was told in chat. Epic weapons were the only animated weapons in all of EQ1 to my experience. They were the shit and the bee's knees and if you had one, you weren't fucking around.

You earn these items by doing what the game tells you must be done. You don't earn them by trading, or by RMTing, or even by being given them.

And that's where PoE is kinda fucked. We clearly have raid-type bosses now, and we clearly have rewards that suit such an achievement as taking down said boss. That's all fine and dandy (even if I feel content that can't be soloed has no place in ARPGs), but when these trophies, these marks of greatness, can be traded, they lose all real value and just become commodities.

If these items are real, I will never know, upon seeing someone wearing them, if that person actually earned the items or simply bought them.

And that's fucked.

I'm not saying PoE should have Binding; it's clear to me that GGG don't want that and fair enough. I am saying that PoE should not have items that are inspired by games that do.

To all those who call me a 'white knight': suck it.

Charan has spoken...

And I agree with everything said. Also, isn't the whole idea of not having ridiculously op'ed uniques the reason why they nerfed so many uniques? So why are they still implementing them, rarity be damned?

If you're a critical build, you didn't use regen. Pointless to invest in large enough amounts to matter in end game. Flasks are also meh.

Not saying they're not strong, but the irony of how people are reacting to these items is pretty interesting.

That being said, I do agree with charan on the matter of "raid boss", etc. And I do intend on following up on the matter.

This was my initial thought.

Nerf something like Koam, which has the biggest penalty in the game, and just look at these things.

I want that mask so bad ha. Wtf that thing is awesome.
HA! Isn't this the Diablo 3 approach? Taking away abilities beforehand, and then giving it back as new features.
You won't have my gear.
