Number of players decreasing

I'm relatively sure the trend is representative, though. The decline may not be as sharp since the more loyal fans played the beta and they may have kept the standalone client, but people like me who use Steam anyway merged their account for convenience.

I don't think it's very alarming, though, or surprising. It's a niche game and it's not very welcoming to new or casual players. (And I think act1 needs to be overhauled.)

Just to play devil's advocate here.

A reduction in steam players does in fact represent a reduction in players. Certainly not "the game is dead" but a fact none the less.

try refreshing that graph after 1.1 is released...

Just look at those graphs again 24-48 hours from now, should be a little more active with challenge leagues running...

Haven't used steam in 7 years.

Game is only growing if anything.

The game is only getting better.

For me the game starts when I reach maps, it doesn't end when I finish merc dom lol.

(i would have used refreshing instead of interesting)
Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes
I had the standalone, and also merged it with steam for convenience as i've used steam for many years now.

Two things I want to throw out there:

1) Path of Exile, is (and has been)in the Top 30 games played on Steam.... Consistantly. Over 6,600 players played the game at it's peak today.

2) A lot of people will try a F2P game, regardless of it's genre/type, and simply find it's not for them. If you see fluctuation in the numbers it merely means some people tried it and didn't return or real life happened... etc.

I wouldn't base anything off of steam charts basically because they don't tell you anything except peaks and current players and they even say it's not to be used as a tool. It's there just to give us some idea of what games are more popular.

Ranking 28th+ is actually quite good considering the massive amount of titles Steam has. I think that's great.

It's amazing how many times this game has died, according to the forum. IT LITERALLY DIED AGAIN. Literally.
