The most overused strawman on these forums: "RNG is RNG"
The reason people use those arguments? hmmm..
I can ofcourse be wrong but maybe its because some players feel the droprates are perfectly fine, same with chance to get 5 links or 6 links etc and is just sick and tired of reading same complaints over and over about how game should be made easier. They maybe just feel that anyone complaining about "rng-situations", grind and so on, suggesting the game be made easier is hard to take seriously since its obviously someone who is better off playing facebook games. So instead of trying to explain it for the seventyeleventh time they plainly state "Rng is Rng." |

Let me post the following for you crackmonster.
RNG is RNG, this is true and redundant :). However the reason why people have a dislike/adversity for it is that some people highly dislike the "gambling" aspect of this. A great solution would be to allow "high cost guaranteed crafting" and allow the same "low budget RNG dependent crafting" Imagine a recipe costing 3500 fusings to 6-link : 100% chance. People that enjoy RNG and only have 100 fusings and no desire to farm weeks on end could just utilize there fusings in the hopes of getting that illusive 6-link. But people that have a dislike for gambling and enjoy working towards a guaranteed goal could in this case also start saving up there fusings for the 6-link they so much desire. There is no reason imo why both the gamble and assured deal could not coexist in PoE. Peace. Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes

Saying 'Rng is Rng' may be a facile response but unfortunately with rewards having as many rng gates as they do that's really as deep as the argument can get for the moment. Do they need to better balance effort rewards vs randomized rewards? Sure, but that's not the reality we have so for now; rng is rng.

RNG is RNG
Ok... fair enough but after 1000-1500 of hours shouldn't RNG balance itself out? If the drop rates and craft rates are so shit RNG is RNG doesn't even matter. It really is just a lottery with 1 big winner out of millions of people once a week. I don't think that's acceptable therefore I don't even log in anymore. Those type of odds might be acceptable to a tiny fraction of players however there are also groups set up to help gamblers with addictions too. RNG is RNG is indeed the most overused strawman on these forums... and it doesn't even make sense to the discussions those people use that shitty saying in most of the time too. |

The one guy in 20 million who wins the lotto loves the RNG, the remaining 19,999,999 not so much. It's hard to have a happy medium.
Putting my programmer hat on for a second there are actually a few different types of RNG functions in software. Programming languages come with a built in function that is known as a "Linear Congruential" function. Meaning it is HIGHLY predictable. I am hoping the Devs are not using the built in Rnd() function, but the way drops always seem to come in 2's scares me into thinking they are using Rnd(). Another interesting fact is that if I take a month off playing one of my characters they experience very good drops for my first session playing them again, and it happens every time for me, enough for me to believe that it is not random at all, trying to get the player rebooked perhaps. People will play as long as they see some chance for advancement and when they lose hope is when they will stop playing. The current system is very casual unfriendly and unfortunately that will be the games demise. The hard cores will always be there cause they are, well hard cores. To succeed long term you have to have some other solution others than high price Lottery ticket drops. Note that I am not saying give me all the best stuff for free, right now. I am saying that if I play a 4 month ladder, and end up with 0 exalts, 20 Chaos, and some lower level orbs, I don't get that feeling of advancement. Someone else coming along and telling me to suck it up princess cause they got Mega drops in that 4 months just reinforces my feeling that I am playing a lottery and am very unlucky. Be interesting to see what the ratio of players who feel lucky compared to unlucky is. |

RNG is RNG
Deal with it Did I mention that RNG is RNG? The 352nd character to hit Level 100 in Standard
The 82nd character to hit Delve 1000 in Standard |

RNG may be RNG, but GGG has control of every last drop rate, the percentage of probability for a mod to show up when crafting, fusing to succeed, etc. etc. There's not an equal chance for everything to happen in this game, and things are buffed or nerfed behind the scenes and we're never any wiser about it.
So every complaint about RNG is pretty valid, as that RNG is working on the parameters that GGG specifies. All I know is that running a chiseled high level map and getting nothing or a 66 in return, over and over again, is just not good or rewarding gameplay. It's just a waste of my time. |
