The most overused strawman on these forums: "RNG is RNG"

Today in a couple of threads i think 5-6 ppl told me it isn't a strawman, all of them claimed by name it was something else and not a single of the things they claimed were the same.

It's hilarious.

If you think the "RNG is RNG" statement is a straw man argument then you should probably look up the definition of a straw man argument.

The entire essence of saying that RNG is RNG isnt addressing complaints over RNG is a straw man , is wrong.

As i said above, RNG is RNG is a perfectly reasonable response to anyone who understands probability/chance. The fact that you think that this statement isnt addressing the topic of RNG means you dont understand what RNG is nor what the statement "RNG is RNG" means.

Tough talk bro, shame i am out of time to reply in length.

It is a strawman, used in various cases where people fully understand that there is RNG, to dismiss their concern and the reason they made the post.

Just play the game a couple of hours with general chat open, go to any forums that discuss poe and you will find that drops are set so low people are quitting the game and constantly feeling frustrated about it. That indicates it's more than just bad lock if you use your brain.

Furthermore if you had read the thread or knew a little about me, rather than assume things were garbage you would not fall into the trap of talking crap based on assumption that turns out to be incorrect.

In your mind there is not the possibility that i know what i talk about, that i know more statistics than you plus have a greater interest in statistics, and that i actually have a point. That is why you fail.

Matter of fact i was just level a new char and with global open in the start you start seeing some things. For example people are really having fun when they can find some overpowered leveling items to blaze through the content etc.

Also that made me reflect on something else you may not understand while you assume i do not have a clue. We all know that what really is interesting is when you progress, that is where the fun is at. Leveling is fun if you don't mind blazing through the same content, etc, but at endgame it becomes stale due to lack of items to finish builds. People are not asking for BiS rares, just that it is possible to get the 1-3 top end uniques that their build require in a reasonable time frame. That leads to a case where people grow frustrated and tired due to not getting anywhere and leave. In D2 people just didn't give a fuck, they leveled up a character spend some weeks on it and then levelup up a new when the old was more or less finished(keeping a constant flow of progress), or stayed farming endgame when they had imba gears and were satisfied(believe it or not people actually do this, they don't stop when they have sick gear). PoE is just void at endgame, it frustrates people rather than make them feel satisfied so they move on try something new etc. Say whatever you want, that is not ideal design, period.

Ranger is absolutely a strawman used by players who refuse to take the action necessary to advance. The main block in advancement isn't lukc(Yes a supremely lucky player can bypass it)- it's your willingness to be social and focus the entirety of your resources on improving yourself rather then insisting on trying for something beyond your reach.

What means you here, it sounds like you mention a third case, not the case where ppl use RNG is RNG to dismiss valid concerns, nor the case where it is not a strawman, but a case where people blame rng for their lack of progress when it is simply because they lack discipline to carry on.

True in some cases, but you may forget that sometimes people stop farming because the game is simply not rewarding enough, where they usually would have farmed on. That is a recurring case in PoE. People love the fundamentals, but are put off by the rates of rewards.

Diablo 2 is still around. Why don't you go play it?

Might i ask you what the purpose is of this sentence?

So many people on here act like this is supposed to be a Diablo 2 remake, especially with regards to droprates. Newsflash: If you think that the Diablo 2 droprates are perfect and PoE's are terrible, and that this is a big enough issue that you need to go QQ on the forums, then why are you here?

Don't be mad.

You are fighting diligently. Why fight a war if you are not interested in the outcome? :p

Video games taught me that war is fun.

Buttom line: Boost high end unique drop rates, don't restrict people from building their characters in a reasonable time frame.

You need to play every hour in a fresh league to get endgame gear, or play a helluvalot and have a dedicated map group to get the 1-3 basic uniques for your planned build.

That denies most people that want to complete their chars from playing fresh leagues, leaving this a D2 without ladder for them, and we all know ladders are longevity...

I can be so tired of arguing nicely about this sometimes, just open your eyes, the entire community is crying about drop rates. Maybe there is a point?

EDIT: and before you choke up in rage about it, no i am not asking for a 500% boost to drop rates or something silly. You are allowed to use your brains.

Guess I'm not a part of this community then. Well now I'm sad.

I think this thread needs a new title based on some of these posts:

QQ is QQ

There are a LOT of people in this game who do not understand the implications of RNG.

The entire concept of this game is based around bad RNG so that you keep playing for a long time. Crying about it isn't going to change anything.

Six-linking is one of the most obvious examples of people not understanding the implications of low RNG. If you don't have a bank of several thousand fusings, you should not be trying to 6L something if your goal is actually to succeed.

When in the past has this ever been successful? The staple of arpgs, and the game PoE was modeled after was D2. D2 had extremely liberal drop rates, and the game was at it's PEAK when duped items/runes were at their PEAK. So historically, better access to gear=more success, and it isn't even debatable. No one I know who quit PoE left because "drop rates are too good". They left because everything in PoE turns into "this isn't for you" after a couple hundred hours at most.

Diablo 2 is still around. Why don't you go play it?

PoE was supposed to be the true successor to D2, not the driving nail that makes you want to reinstall it. The designers modeled the game after D2, so thank you for an irrelevant and ignorant comment that contributed nothing.
