Crafting doesn't exist in POE. Gambling does...and the house always wins.
Velocireptile - I LOL'ed. Which made me fart. I wish the office were empty right now :(
Hardlicker - I had to push the dog out of the way so I could get to the sexy quilt. Last edited by Bex_GGG#0000 on Jan 25, 2014, 2:39:30 PM

It's because we live in an age of false entitlement. Instead of people playing PoE to have fun we have a bunch of people playing because 'I want this and I want that and if I don't get it I'll QQ till I do."
Rather than playing and being happy and grateful for what they do find and accomplish we have people only upset at what they're not getting.
(ugh, I'm really showing my age with this post lol >.>)

Fortunately, GGG seems to realize this. They've got a good game on their hands, and it could become great. They could also ruin it. Time will tell.

tldr quit bitching. DIABLO 2 was fun to most of you because of bots and dupes
It was fun to me because I knew where I had to go if I needed specific gear. You could farm NM Meph until you had what you needed for Hell Meph, and then you could do Hell Baal for whatever Meph couldn't drop. You didn't get level 10 uniques from Hell Meph.
Loot tables in PoE are too large. There's the problem with low level uniques and item level (for socketing), but that could be addressed with a "raise item level to x" recipes.
(But I think drops are mostly fine. It's crafting that isn't. D2 was centered on uniques, PoE is more about rares, which is the actual cause of the complaints.)
1) You got a shit ton of shit loot from hell meph.
2) D2 (classic) was centered around rares
3) D2 (LoD) was centered around rune words and rares/orange(crafteds)/uniques

See I just don't understand this point of view. I play self found, that's just what I find most fun, challenging and rewarding. I know I'll never see some of the loot in the game and I'm ok with that, I was with D2 and TQIT as well and still had a blast. Take the guy who said wait till you get a toon to 90, he is clearly not pleased with play after 90 but rather than being happy he got to 90+, which I bet the vast majority of players won't see, he's upset about it and using it as an example of why the game is bad. Idk, I just don't get it.

Short version: Uniques have better drop chances in D2 than in PoE - the rest is comparable.
Long version: I remember D2 quite well, but I always played singleplayer and 90% solo. In D2 it took me less time to farm for gear with which I was inclined to start a new character. I found all of the uniques in my time except for 2 or 3. The only unique that I didn't get that mattered was Death's Web. I put my Poison Necro on hold even though I had Bramble.
I didn't get most of the endgame runewords after thousands of hours playtime and I'm fine with that. They were comparable to almost perfectly rolled rares, which I don't expect to drop in PoE either.

I remember it well.
You're basing your assessment of what D2 was based on your play. To many, D2 wan't a dupe fest. We played it legit. We didn't group or trade with people that we didn't trust. Some didn't group or trade at all. That's the environment that PoE brings back for me, and the environment that GGG is hoping to maintain.
Nice one. I only solo'd D2 or played with close friends. We still played for years, but a lot of that was probably Bnet inertia. :)
Also: fuck, you're old. :P
I remember playing games on a computer... a real computer... for years before the first monitors were available. We got print outs.
