The masterstroke of calling the game Hardcore

The game is F2P, you don't even need to spend a cent to play it. Nobody is forcing you to play it, nobody is forcing you to use 3rd party sites and software. If it's inconvinient, tideous and unfun for you - why are you still playing?

It's got a lot of problems sure, but PoE is a niche game, catering to a niche crowd, either way you look at it. There's plenty of big titles out there that circumvent the issues you describe...and kill the fun for the rest of us that want a, ahem, "hardcore" experience.

I've been playing this game for a while, still fail to see how this game is hardcore TBH.
"FullyBlownDaddy"-FullBlownDaddy™
"FillBlownDaddy"-GGG
"FullBlownMommy"-Casual_Ascent
Game's about as hardcore as playing ball in a cup.
If you play 12 hours a day, you get a better % of balls that end up in cups. Which you can then trade for a slightly bigger ball and a smaller cup.
Eventually, you'll need thousands upon thousands of cupped balls to trade in for the right shape and size of cup so you can keep catching the different shaped balls.
Vote +1 to change Path of Exile to Path of Nerfs.
We hate to say, but ProjectPT was right.

Could that possibly be because you have never played in the hardcore league? =P

POE free to play to appeal to a wider audience. The game launch was advertised on diablo fan sites to go after a wider audience. It won a GoTY award, even.

POE is hardly niche anymore, despite its humble beginnings.

Game is still more hardcore than D3 will ever be.

Also, people saying it's not hardcore - I challenge you to play without using autoIT scripts and without partying with more than one Real Life friend.

In NEM/HC of course.

That's why I don't watch streamers. playing in a 6 man group facerolling everything and alt-F4'ing when I get more than 5 stacks of corrupted blood is not my idea of fun.

I guess what I'm trying to get at, is the game is as fun as you make it out to be. If you trade for all the best gear and use every little exploit available, of course it won't be 'hardcore'. I still think this game is pretty hardcore if you play it like the developers intend you to play it.

Perfect Example - XCom. I played Ironman, that game was BOSS. My friends save/load every time they lose a strong unit. BOOOOORING.

Your highest level character is level 77 and all of your characters are in standard league.

I hate to break it to you, but the POE devs INTENDED for you, the player, to alt+f4. They intended for your hardcore character to actually not stay permanently dead. They intended for you to trade for BIS gear and party up to faceroll content.

If you want to play with self-imposed handicaps, props, I myself would only play solo. But I'm also not under the delusion just because I play with those handicaps that was the dev's intention with POE.

The developers intend you to party and trade, ie. the short-cuts that are opposite of hardcore.

But I agree with you. The game is difficult when you play solo self-found. I actually had more fun in the last one week race, rushing solo SF, than I had in the last weeks of endgame mapping in Dom. Now, if only desync problem was fixable...
