First of all both OP and GGG are using the word hardcore incorrectly.
Hardcore doesnt have anything to do with difficulty, it doesn't describe the game, it describes the player. A hardcore player is one who invests a lot of time and energy into the game. For instance if you played angry birds 3 hours a day, did tons of research and practice to learn the exact mechanics of the physics, and tried to break world records (best score, fastest clear time, etc) than you would be a hardcore angry birds player. Even if the player was TERRIBLE at the game he would still be playing hardcore. A softcore player is one who invests very little and energy into the game. If you play poe only 30 minutes a day, don't research anything, and barely understand the stat system you would be playing it softcore. Even if the player in question was a video game God who holds world records in every genre of game he would still be said to playing it casual. So casual and hardcore dont refer to difficulty at all. As for whether PoE is actually a difficult game...well regenerating health is a big sign that the game is easy, so is the game intentionally being made so that grinding is effective. |

" My definition of hardcore differs from yours, Hardcore does not equal time. Hardcore implies to me risk/reward,doing things dangerously and paying a huge price for failure.Making do with less than optimal and either triumphing or failing horribly in the process. POE rewards players for the opposite,it rewards players for the path of less resistance and comfort zone playing. It rewards players not taking on risk encounters. Investing a lot of time into a game just means...... you have got the time to invest,no more. I'm a hardcore gamer (by my own definition),POE is designed to reward casual riskless gameplay. I have the time to spend a huge amount of hours playing games but I won't spend a lot of those hours on POE.It's not a risk/reward game, ergo not hardcore. So by my definition even a casual player can still be hardcore.... it's not the size that counts,it's what you do with it. lol Last edited by Temper#7820 on Jan 9, 2014, 4:13:34 AM

True. I lost interest too. I do not see anything hardcore on this game at all. My definition of hardcore - Experienced player which use combination of certain skills, triggers and good methodical movement and all done in high speed. If he screw one thing , he might remain forgotten aka WIPED !. Even that I played it a lot, I realized its not how I play it but how I plan my build in the first place and then roll until ...guess found ilvl 70 build enabler unique not becasue in lvl 65 you are already almost in the end of the content but you want to hold it for few levels till reflects kill you ?! However, fun game for certain time..
