The masterstroke of calling the game Hardcore
Calling the game Hardcore is truly a masterstroke.
That one word permits all the inconveniences and difficulties in the game, while giving some form of affirmation to those who are willing to put up with them. To complain about them is very un-hardcore. If something is particularly user unfriendly, cumbersome and unintuitive, well the more hardcore you are for using it. Forced to go out of your way to use 3rd party sites like poe.xyz or specialist scripts to conduct trading. Well that's just what hardcore gaming is. Going through these inconveniences and travails merely serves to confirm how hardcore we POE players are compared with players of other games. Whats that you say? In order to sell an item, you've got to keep disrupting your gameplay to the extent that many people would rather play the game and forgo trading. Want to sell rare items but lost on how to price them? Worried that you are vendoring items worth an Exalt or more, scanning poe.xyz still of no assistance? Well you just need to learn the game noob. If you don't know how to price all your rare's, drawing on your knowledge of all the different classes, popular builds and the value they place on particular stat combo's at different item levels, you're simply not hardcore enough yet. Don't come complaining to us when the problem is clearly at your end. You're either lazy or just unwilling to learn. Don't like the RNG nature of the crafting system. That's a pretty un-hardcore thing to say right there. I thought you were a beta supporter. Do those badges next to your name mean nothing. Lets just pretend you never said it. Remember the core lesson. Difficult, frustrating and inconvenient = HARDCORE. Me? I dont want to be hardcore. I care nothing of being thought of as hardcore. I just want to play a fun computer game. And i do. Partly. |

The game is F2P, you don't even need to spend a cent to play it. Nobody is forcing you to play it, nobody is forcing you to use 3rd party sites and software. If it's inconvinient, tideous and unfun for you - why are you still playing?
It's got a lot of problems sure, but PoE is a niche game, catering to a niche crowd, either way you look at it. There's plenty of big titles out there that circumvent the issues you describe...and kill the fun for the rest of us that want a, ahem, "hardcore" experience. |

Hear, hear, OP you are so right. I've reached that point where having to put up with "hardcore" inconveniences have overwhelmed the fun I was having prior.
