What PoE could Learn From Torchlight 2 Mods [Itemization/MagicFind Rant]

I'd love to know how much time the average player invests into PoE compared to TL2, I have a feeling the numbers would be lulzy and completely flush your premise down the toilet.

Games that hand you everything you want on a silver platter like TL are geared towards the casual market. PoE is, however, NOT that type of game.

100% correct! Now, excuse me, I have to spend 5 minutes trading for all the best gear in the game that someone else found. HARDCORE.
Hi

I play TL2 with the mods on when I want to feel incredibly super uber. TL2 art though severely removed my need to play that game. Can't wait for Grim Dawn to get to the 2nd act, I love the dark atmosphere(yes I know I could get a TL2 mod to make it darker, but still...)

POE could learn a lot from different games. I would really enjoy a prefix/suffix contest or perhaps some removal of the useless pre/suffixs.

What!? And miss out on +5% light radius for your exalt!? Heresy!
TL2 is a great Hack&Slay, no question!

Especially with this mod: http://www.synergiesmod.com/

And I´m happy that it´s totally different than PoE in the most points, because I don´t want to play many PoE clones. ;-) Overall I like PoE more. But I´m not sure what PoE could learn from TL2, I think it´s good how they are.

You only yolo once.

TL2 was aimed for solo play, self fond you could find stuff constantly, including good uniques.

what they did good (IMO):

- the pet, lovable, customisable, useful
(cosmetic pets hey! where is my charger companion Rhoa? or poop flinging monkey with a chance to blind?)

- random events/maps/challenges in a map that would take you away from the beaten road; with rewards!
(gated contents in maps)

- useful mods on items and 'enchanters' that could give you a range of mods you wanted (for a cost) on gear
(yolo exalts)

- your build was basically more deeps or more utility or more active mitigation
(not % more HP)

How much of it could PoE steal and integrate in Wraeclast theme I don't know. but there is room for improvements and GGG is too slow to make our lives better :-(

I bought TL2 on steam when it was on sale for 9,99$.
Played like 30 - 40 hours of TL2 but I could not get into it for some reasons. ( I have around 400 - 500 hours of PoE played overall )The first one, I didnt really liked the graphics and I had the feeling that there are useless and stupid passive skills. I didnt liked the classes aswell, the Embermage didnt felt like a real mage, the Advanturer or whatever it was didnt felt like a Ranged DPS class, I mean a classic elf with a bow and that tanky dude with the huge cannon was really weird.

But to the topic... TL2 itemization was great and I loved to collect my gold and purple set items, also the blue ones. The mods didnt really looked like they are useless. Very often a blue set item was just too good to not equip it over my rare item. Almost every drop was interesting ( ofc not the white and grey garbage ).

In PoE I really dislike some useless stats on the items. Nothing is wors when you drop a rare item, you identify it and start reading the stats. You see a few godly lines and the last one must be reflect 11 damage to the attacker or some light radius crap. This just makes me crazy and angy. I dont even know why stats like this even exists in this game.... Is there any explanation for that ?

I really think the best loot system is from titan quest where uniqe monsters or some type of monster could droup a monster specific item that has some uniqestats but special because you could farm monsters for the gear that you actually need

Titan quest had such an nice mechanic for uniques. If an boss or other mob had it equiped the kill would give it,and on the other hand the mob/boss would be stronger cause of the specific unique that it wear.Would love to see this kind of mechanics here too.

This would make the game P2W, unless every activated account gets a free pet.

I support a little rat with a paper on its back that reads (kick me i did not support yet).

With an obvious option to right click and kick the rat.

I'll definitely try that mod. While we have played a reasonable amount of Torchlight 2, we haven't really got a good idea of which mods are being played, and which ones are worth investigating.

That's ... quite positive attitude actually. And OP is true if I may notice, PoE lategame seems very bland and sterile, with several uber-badass items that never fall and mass of half-usable cheap legendaries everyone and their mother has.

Simply put you need more content, more fun, more reasons for people to grind and play.
