as for the 'growth' after 1.0.4. i dont deny it. CEO of a company no matter what cannot lie in such cases. but this is not to say that i cannot question WHY this particular point in time had been selected and what are non-standard circumstances leading to this result
You're not helping yourself by acting like this. Do you think people are going to take any of your points seriously when you disrespect Chris like this? Chris has never lied to us about anything we've ever known about. There is no reason to suspect his character, he's at least 20% of the reason this game exists and his passion for this game is clearly evident. Calling him a liar just makes you look like a whiny baby.
Sure, he could be lying - anybody can easily lie about anything - but Chris resists that temptation, he's better than that and you know it.
If you don't like this game anymore, the door is that way. We don't need feedback from people who treat the developers this way. I mean, really, I think I'd love it if this game got more honest and critical feedback, but you aren't helpful stirring up shit like this.
No, steam tracker is not a reliable source of information -- neither is xfire. We don't know the habits of players, whether they play on steam, use the PoE client, or whatever. They don't indicate success or popularity beyond a vague indication. It's pointless to suggest one way or the other using this data, that PoE is doing great or not.

Also, how is steam tracker not a reliable source of information? 30-50% of POE's population play using it, it's pretty dam accurate I would say.

Claiming "only time invested" makes PoE hardcore, and not the mechanics, is complete bullcrap. A casual player - someone who only plays Minecraft and Battlefield 4 - could not make it to maps on one character in one life. They could not survive HC to level 80. They would never figure it out, not without people micromanaging them. And even then, they probably wouldn't have the dexterity to avoid death. Casuals are not experience in games or mechanics, they are used to being spoonfed, which is what makes them casuals.
Well you may be hardcore^2 and you will still die no matter what on your first play. There is zero hint on the boss mechanics and non linear difficulty progress of encounters. Why all the players actually fail with their first build, is simply the fact that logic leads you to balance passive tree between offensive and defensive points. This can actually work to a certain point in the game, till you get one hit killed. Then you either quit or visit forums and realise that passive tree isn't build around common sense.

anubite to the rescue! I dont care if Chris is lying or not. He isnt a fucking saint, so there a chances he is, or not. And steam tracker is a reliable source. It was released there to gather new players, and 50k played at the peak. Now the peak is down to arround 14-16k! And maybe X-fire isnt a indicator, but just watch Twich.tv. 4k viewers at peak times .....

I'm reading between the lines -- you're implying he's lying, even if you didn't say it.

Mortal Conviction is really fucking strong. 40% less aura cost, for auras that already costed 40% of their life prior to the change, BM was made significantly stronger with auras

Well... to be fair... xfire is less of a way to see what masses of people are playing and it seems to work more for me to show me what my friends and their friends are playing. It also gives me a way to chat to them and invite them to the game (and stream my screen to them) when I'm playing this and they are playing something else.
It also was a good indicator to me when I saw so many friends and friends of friends listed as playing this game in the xfire client... only to stop seeing them play it at all and now am being invited to other games since I'm the odd man out still playing here. :/

You could easily run grace, wrath, anger prio to 1.0. Blood Magic got weaker.

Under no circumstance is BM stronger than ever. It used to be that BM could run anger/wrath/grace without a major concern because they were flat auras. Now you MAY be able to run 1 aura with BM; more likely none without a major point investment.
HOW is that BM being stronger than ever again? I know you like the game, but at least be reasonable and not a fanboy in the feedback, please.
