Screen is zoomed in way too far, this isn't 1998 so...
As a widescreen owner myself i find it silly that my vertical view is like 10 meters (i have ranged attacks, i should be able to see more then 10 meters.)
And my horisontal view is much better allowing me to have 15 meters *range* with my ranged attacks. Totems on the other hand doesnt suffer from silly issues like *viewing range* or such things. They blast away happily at anything and everything their AI aggroes on. I was told GGG was doing performance tests to maybe increase zooming out later (they dont want to increase it due to performance issues supposedly). Another solution to this would be to show mob locations on the corner map, which presents the apparent FoV if you had an over the shoulder perspective.
Then there would be some warning of impending doom, and less crying on the forum. B) Traveling in a fried-out combie, On a hippie trail head full of zombie.

" actually no its not balanced and actually no i will not get used to it just because you say so lmfao it would be nice to have time to see the enemy before they are right in front of your face. zooming it out a bit to let you see the horizon distance from the character perspective would be more realistic. zooming it out a bit wont kill the balance especially if your abilities can't reach that far so any advantage you are talking about doesn't exist already other than your abilities having more range than what you can see in the current game as it its. this is especially true when you are running down towards your skill bar but where as when your running up to the corner right you can see a lot further. makes no sense why i should see less depending what direction i am running towards.... If you stretch your screen across 3 monitors (i.e. ultra wide screen) you can see just over 2 screens further east and just over 2 screens further west than a standard aspect ratio.
I tested it in sarn arena because I kept getting targeted before I could even see anyone. So I set the game to window mode, stretched it across my monitors and the view distance was about two edge of screen lightning warps further east (and another 2 edge of screen lightning warps west) than my standard view (which was full screen 16:10). It's a massive advantage in both pvp and pve for "offscreening" threats (i.e. wiping them out beyond their wakeup range). That capability puts any melee/short range build at an extreme disadvantage compared to projectile attacks/spells with lots of projectile speed. Never underestimate what the mod community can do for PoE if you sell an offline client. Last edited by Vhlad#6794 on Dec 22, 2015, 7:06:18 PM

" it's about time devs make "not yet activated"-monsters invulnerable. and of course disable any activation through damage but screen distance to the player. age and treachery will triumph over youth and skill!

I agree. How close the camera is was one of the biggest turn-offs to the game I encountered back in the beta.
Just started up again last week and all the changes made have really enhanced the game. I'm quite addicted now, and really enjoying it. Still hate how close the camera is though. People mentioned it giving ranged an advantage. Make it so if I take any action that isn't moving, enemies spot it from a much longer range. AKA let me see enemies are over there. You've got a light radius mechanic to dampen my ability to see far away already. I just don't understand how anyone is supposed to enjoy builds based on preparation, like trapping, when you can never prepare for a damn thing. You either stop and lay traps all the time, just in case, wasting your time half the time because no enemy is there. Or you just have stuff eating your face before you could even place the trap. |
