You guys know rampant RMT abuse comes from a shit economy, right?

Ha, I am truly unlikely to change.
I'm older now, and here's my view simply;

I enjoy making a 'theoretical build' and putting it into action, watching it grow etc etc, but once I have all that was 'envisioned' the build is usually retired. It's 'complete'.

I have learned through playing near every arpg ever created since diablo, that the game is only relative while I am searching for gear, not once I have obtained it, if that makes sense.

That was a moment of gaming revelation when it happened ha.

If I planned a 2h build on some specific 2h weapon, the moment I get that item, the motivation dies.

It's why I'm pretty glad the 6 socket items seem rare, and that every character wants/could make use of one, but nothing depends on one to function. This keeps the drive alive, so to speak.

I couldn't agree more.

That's why I'm interested to see what you have to say on this in another 8 to 12 months. =)

Ugh what's with these posts lately? Seems like it may be one of the following or a combination of: ass kissing, GGG in disguise, someone training to be a mod or.... Oh I don't know, passive aggressiveness perhaps? I've been away for a while and have noticed several in the last few days.

This is a genuine question. I'm not attacking or trying to antagonize.

It's the combination of the Socratic method with "I'm tired of seeing meaningless phrases," rather than writing "Please stop posting bullshit." It's giving the benefit of the doubt that the OP isn't trolling.

Here: "blame bad game design." What about it makes it bad? How could it be better?

If you aim for something constructive, you have to ask those questions.

I really don't even know where to begin with this post, but here goes...

1. PoE does have "limited" resources in the way the game handles drop rates. Specifically in how it handles unique drops. Basically the way D3 treated drops in relation to what was being sold in the auction house, PoE treats drops the same way in relation to what is listed in the for sale forum threads.

Oh wow! This is the first time I've seen this accusation. Do tell more please!

Trolling + circle jerk is what these forums are all about.

This is the general case of the game. But some people like the one you are replying to, don't see it that way. Everyone has their own goals. Some people it's all about seeing what you can do with the right piece of gear. Overall he's saying he doesn't need gems or the right passive tree. There isn't much for him to play with on that overall. So he's left with gear.

But, this also supports your statement. Gems and the passive tree come first. Gear is the endgame. Gems and passive still make how you use the gear possible.

Well, I can somewhat predict it already;

The passive skill tree is very complex on appearance, but it's true depth remains unknown to me thus far. I can closest compare it to the spheregrid in FFX, which was also very complex on appearance, but relatively simple once you'd looked at it a while. I see the same being true here.

In comparison to say, Titan quest which had 9 'masteries', and you could combine any two of them, bringing the build possibilities to about 54-64 truly unique builds, we shall see if that many are possible here;

For example, a 'bow-user' build here, will depend on the available 'bow-skills'.
If there are only 5 skills that use a bow, of which two could be a 'main' skill, there are only about 1-2 builds there. Not much.

It was very smart they created their skills as an item that where more can be added on demand, as these are where builds are born.

The same 'bow-user' build, to me, is not a different build via gear at all. That's not nearly enough difference for me to call them a 'build'. It's just a more powerful version of said build. Gear does not make builds, they only augment them in my eyes, so it will completely depend on how many viable skills there are, broken down to how unique the play-style of these skills are. Like, a 'bow-user' with a multi-shot as opposed to a 'barrage' is not very different, and thus one 'bow-user' of either or is sufficient. From there, either one could be given 'bow of kickass +99', the build is already in place.

Cheers,

Blaming excessive RMT for our shitty economy is Soviet Russian logic... Its completely backwards

Stop blaming Chinese farmers and blame bad game design. Every other online game has an economy without the level of RMT in PoE.

RMT is especially huge in PoE compared to other trading games because our economy sucks dick so players give up and RMT to progress.

im just wondering have you ever tried d3, without rmting you wont be able to get gold to buy a single thing there

Where do you think RL money comes from? Do you think there's some finite amount? Every government on the planet 'creates' money out of thin air.
