Trading too tedious? OR Trading is OP?

Oh by the way I need to dispel a myth that somehow a better trading system or even a fully automatic AH like WoW or D3 would stop flippers or people getting rich Flash news, it doesn't.
It allows people who play the market access to massive amounts of resources instantly at their fingertips and to obtain back their profits instantly or even while offline. I personally gained 1000s of gold in WoW flipping and millions upon millions of gold in D3. Please stop using "Only people that would support this current trading system instead of current AH or upgrade to trading system are only flippers or ect." It's quite the opposite really. " This is a lot more difficult to do than you think... It happened some in Anarchy, but I haven't seen it happen in standard in quite a while. |

"Stop? Of course not; for example, timing-based flipping (exploiting differences between Tuesday prices and Saturday prices). But hinder flipping? Most definitely would. The mistake is not what would hinder flipping, the mistake is treating flipping as an evil to be nerfed into the ground. It's just as dumb a mentality as nerfing the flavor-of-the-month build into the ground. A proper nerf prevents OP while retaining viability, and the economy benefits from flipping being viable. When Stephen Colbert was killed by HYDRA's Project Insight in 2014, the comedy world lost a hero. Since his life model decoy isn't up to the task, please do not mistake my performance as political discussion. I'm just doing what Steve would have wanted.

An idea that I think might be interesting (to resolve "Trading too tedious?") would be NPC deals posted in Trade chat. I know it doesn't directly reduce the trade chat wall spam but it might make traders stop and read it. Those that just spam the trade channels 1,2,3...upwards might not stay in the Trade chat long enough to see the NPC deal at all.
The NPC deals would be the ingame vendor equivalent to GGG's microtransaction discounts. At multiple random times in the day and for short durations say: 2minutes, 1 single message in trade chat will be posted from an NPC. Vendors might sell "1 Alteration Orb for 3 Augmentation Orbs" instead of the usual 4. The offers will be based on usual vendor deals perhaps even dipping into cheaper recipes. After 2 minutes the NPC deal will end. What this adds to the game is a distraction for those that sit in towns so there's something more to look forward to. It's also a way to encourage more awareness of ingame vendor recipes by adding more dynamic to trading. "Hang on doesn't that make trading even MORE OP?" For one thing, trading is a valid form of gameplay. It's no less legitimate than farming Merveil or Dominus. What makes trading OP is that some people have become experts at it whilst those that don't try/want to play that way might not be as good at it. The NPC deals idea won't affect the expert traders as much because by trading all of one currency into another they'd be putting too many eggs into one basket. However, for the casual trader the NPC deal (available only in Trade Chat) might be the quick discount that they need for a certain situation like crafting. It doesn't solve Trade Chat spam but if people are watching Trade Chat anyway, they might stop spamming for a minute to consider making use of a deal. |
