OP already gave up. So should you.

Wow, such a likeable person.

Anyway, bump for SFL in a dead forum.
Vote +1 to change Path of Exile to Path of Nerfs.
We hate to say, but ProjectPT was right.

I have several reasons for wanting a self found league that have nothing to do with loot or drops.

1) As a self found player, it is very frustrating playing in public games with traders. They are all way overpowered and faceroll content. They don't like playing with me because I'm too weak for them, and I don't like playing with them because I never feel like I have a legitimate role.

2) I'm tired of getting RMT spam from various websites. For the most part, I think the RMT sites would go for the low hanging fruit, which is the trading leagues, and leave a self found league alone.

3) The noticeboards are nothing but trading games, especially in merciless. This means that its very hard to find any public game where people are actually playing the game. In a self found league, the noticeboards might actually have some public GAMES on them, and not just temporary trading posts.

4) Global chat is just awash in stuff about trading. Either it's people spamming global chat with their trades, and then getting reported. Or its Price Check this, or its How many wanker orbs = one chaos? I like being on global chat in general, so I don't want to have to turn it off. But often I end up doing just that so I don't have to see all the trade BS.

I play self found now. If they made a self found league, I would definitely join. I wouldn't mind seeing drops (especially of orbs) bumped for the league, but its not something I really need. Rather, I would prefer to see GGG work on the gambling system for all leagues. If crafting weren't completely frustrating, I'd be just fine with how drops are working out. (I am a little disappointed that I have not found one item yet that would inspire me to start a new character, and if it continues, I will likely drop out of the game in much less time than I stayed in D2. But I'm fairly patient, and I expect that a drop like that will eventually come my way.)

I'm very disappointed that GGG has relegated all SFL discussion to this thread, and I'm even more chagrinned that the official SFL thread now has the name "BORING:S" That needs to change. Bad enough that this is shunted away to the suggestions forum. But it now goes under a name that no-one will associate with Self Found playing.

#1 Should not effect you at all. I've played Self found up to 70 or so and never had any trouble grouping with others. There will always be overpowered "better" characters. I just try not to be too jealous.

#2 I barely get any RMT spam. Now, it's happened a few times where I'll post an item for trade and immediately get a few messages but this is a very rare occurrence. Maybe I'm the exception, but I don't think so. If you can't deal with 3-4 messages once a week then it's not RMT that is the issue :-/

#3 I agree with you here. There is a lot of trade spam in the party listings. I wish GGG would actively remove these groups.

#4 Global is very rarely about trading... I see items there sometimes and I see price checks from time to time as well. But normally global is either very tame or is the usual filth of the internet entertaining each other. Very rarely do I see someone try to trade from global.

Lastly, if you haven't found an item that makes you want to start a new character, then you simply aren't playing very much. Not only are some of the low-level uniques build enablers, but if you haven't dropped a rare that makes you want to re-roll then you are either very, very unfortunate or this game isn't for you...

I'm glad you're interested in a self found league, but your reasons for being interested are mostly poor... I think you will see some longer self-found races coming in the future, and there's always Diablo 3's ex-pac coming in a few months that will be mostly self found. Cheers.

As opposed to your reasons for not wanting it, which are non-existent. Anyways, glad you have the courage to tell people wanting something isn't good enough unless they can prove it to you first. That takes a massive amount of ego, and I salute your telephone pole-sized e-peen.
funny thread, was a bit boring in the midle though.

You say I shouldn't be effected by my relative power in groups. But when the disparity is as great as it is, and when its always that great, then it does effect me. I have basically no role in public groups. So on this one, I'm not wrong. If you are fine with just leeching xp from others, then more power to you.

When I talked about RMT spam, I don't just mean whispers. I do get them way more often than I would like. I'm also talking about global chat being filled with RMT spam from P E S K Y, and other lovely sites. I doubt these sites would bother spamming a self found league. It would be a waste of resources that could be better spent elsewhere for them.

Glad you agree at least that the Noticeboard needs some work to at least make it so people could find games, and not trading stalls. This is an outgrowth of GGG's deliberately making trading "difficult." But if the trading mechanic is hard, and trading is more important for improving your character than playing, then people are going to abuse every possible mechanic in game to facilitate their trades.

If you don't see that a great deal of global chat focuses on the economy, then you either don't watch it much, or we aren't playing the same game. Either that, or you've got blinders that I wish I had.

The main reason there is a hardcore league is so that hardcore players can easily play only with other hardcore players. The play style of a hardcore player just doesn't fit with the softcore penchant for zerging. It's actually more hardcore to try to play hardcore with a bunch of softcore guys, because they put you at risk. With self found players, we also have a different play style, defined by our gear limitations. This difference may not be as strong as it is on the hardcore/softcore divide, but its enough to make public parties very unsatisfying. If I had an easy way to play with others (and there are a lot of them) who play with similar restrictions, the game would become alot more fun.
