Being "cockblocked" - this is exactly how I feel doing maps. Lvl 83 here, stuck on 66-69 maps. Recently I have given up on doing maps for this reason and I farm Dominus for far better time/reward investement. When I get bored with Dominus I will probably leave this game until GGG feels like actually doing something with the map system.

It is beyond me how they made such marvelous end-game mechanic that mapping is and then screwed it totally by leaving it all in the hands of rng.

It looks like RNG algorithm used for the Maps drop creates a very high standard deviation,

If that's the case is not really worthy using currency for perfect rolls

Not sure you understand what the term random means as well as basic statistics.

I for instance got my 2nd exalt drop in less than 2 months (and from a chest no less). Which is totally irrelevant, as are all the good-RNG / bad-RNG stories that we will keep sharing as long as PoE exists.

Just keep playing and increasing your sample size. The RNG will balance itself eventually for you (not that you're guaranteed to live to see it, though ;)

I'm just curious.. me level 85 is far away yet, but what kinda hours you have been played?
I'm gonna whine about my luck when reaching 1000hrs/char.

In D3 i broke down after 770hours and then used the bloody AH.. now that char has 800hrs played, not so wise choice..

I had no decent drops, (exalt worthy items or high currency), nothing above a chaos for ~ 500 hours. I then got 2 ex drops within about an hour of each other, I expect nothing for many moons now.

I dropped several multi-exa items, but I never dropped my own exalt. Actually I never dropped any currency better then regal.
Sometimes I was wondering where so many exalts came from.

Dunno if you wanna do this but to continue into 75+ maps you kinda need to form a group. Rerolling maps to good quant and not rip-city is expensive and in a party you can share the cost. With a good magic finder, your group will be shitting out a trail of identified rates. And you will find good ones to use or sell to get currency to roll more maps or buy upgrades. I tried solo run out ta maps currency around lvl 72 maps

That means 40% more. Also, RNG.

I completely agree that RNG drops don't make sense on maps; maps that have 11% drop more maps then 60%+, more then average.
