Looking for input on creating a unique item for elemental bow users (Focused around fire damage)
|
I once tried making a physical Ranger (split arrow) but the damage output was very small when compared to a standard "weapon elemental damage" build.
The reasons being: - Wrath & Anger - The "MORE weapon elemental" gem - Rings, belt & quivers with "weapon elemental damage" If you truly want to create an Unique, that puts physical builds on equal footing with elemental builds, it's going to have to be a pretty extreme item. Great suggestion I've read: - X - Y amount of physical damage is mandatory - Life leech/Mana leech would be very nice My suggestion: Aim your quiver towards a "Physical Crit build". Any crit build is very common now but that'll change with the lack of diamond flasks in Open beta. If the quiver had a very large "Crit chance" bonus it'll probably be incentive enough for some of us to try this "Phys Crit build". |

" Using extremes to justify your position in a discussion is generally a bad idea. :D @trizz This one unique item should not make so much of an impact that you can say physical and elemental are more balance because of it. The Dev's simply won't let a Diamond unique be that powerful. Making terribly powerful uniques also the wrong way to address the issue of physical/elemental balance issues. Crit is also a stat that is MUCH better on a weapon than any other item slot. 50% crit chance on any piece of gear other than the weapon increases your base chance to crit (which is 5%), which, combined with 100% from passives and 100% from crit chance support gem, leaves you at 17.5% crit chance. Having that same value on a bow gives you a base crit of 7.5%, which ends up being 22.5 crit chance, a difference of 5% total crit chance. I think thats better for a crit build, without the value being a stupidly high number that a tonne of people would scream "OP" at, Maligaro's Virtuosity already gets enough love and hate. (PS. getting a good physical bow with +20% or more crit chance is quite hard). ...Not to mention I'm gonna be making a crit bow when I upgrade to Diamond, so don't steal my unique! :D In-Game-Name: Lezli

Something like +X(%) stuff per frenzy charge.

Just wanted to toss in my two cents, for what they're worth.
1) Converting all elemental damage to physical would be a good way to maintain the existing balance of the game and would also give phys rangers that massive boost in effectiveness that they so desperately need. More importantly, it would pull the rug from under those people Lezli mentioned who might rage about how OP it is. If all it does is convert the damage, and it's OP, then maybe it's elemental damage that's OP? ;) 2) Another neat idea in my opinion would be to give it a "prismatic" skill gem slot. I'm not sure if those exist already or not, so this might be a moot point, but it'd be really interesting to have a slot that you could put any color gem into. The potential is enormous. |

I would like to see something related to phisical ranger, which I think we are lacking. I like the idea of bonus franzy charge, od nice mana or life leech, or maybe something for everybody, like "your arrows now slow", reduced mana cost on skills, nice % atack speed...

"Vaal taser ammo"
UNIQUE CONDUCTIVE QUIVER - 50% attack speed - 20 enemy lightning resistnce - Tiple shocked enemies stunned for 1 sec - 5% chance to shock on hit |

I like the idea of it enabling multi-arrow shots. Something like a magical quiver that spawns magic arrows which split into 2 (or 3, but that may be overkill with LMP/GMP and/or Split Arrow.... hello 10+ arrows anyone?). Every unique seems to have a downside though, so as long as it doesn't hinder you too much, it can be pretty sick.
I've always was curious to try Resolute Technique, actually, but it never seemed very practical. Maybe you could add that to the quiver? If you don't know what resolute technique is, it makes it so you never miss but you can no longer crit. I think this would be fairly interesting for a steady damage ranger, instead of something bursty. It would open up some interesting builds, or at least just let you dive into more survivability (thinking hardcore here). Due to never being able to crit and never missing, you could avoid the accuracy nodes or the crit nodes in favor of more life/armor/dex, etc. Also, you wouldn't have to worry about reflect mobs as much, as you wouldn't have that chance of critting yourself to death. Never missing would also make Life Leech/Life Gain on Hit gems a lot nicer too, you'd have a constant source of life return. Honestly, I think you should really go for a Resolute Technique quiver! Then it wouldn't need that "downside" ability that most uniques seem to have, as it already takes your ability to crit away. Meow.

Guided Arrows.
That would be awesome, perhaps if it pierces then it could seek out another target. Perhaps it might be overpowered but it would be cool. |

I like the idea of it increasing Crit strike, and adding Life leech and physical damage.
Maybe also a bit of energy sheild/ energy shield recovery rate. It is odd how underpowered Physical DPS / Crits builds are compared to Elemental builds. It kind of annoys me because I'm trying to build a Crit build with lifesteal and its hard. -_-. |

Afternoon bump. I'm really liking the idea of converting all elemental damage to physical. How would this work with auras though?
