Looking for input on creating a unique item for elemental bow users (Focused around fire damage)
" Thanks. After reading your thread, I'm also thinking something Frenzy related would be cool. Maybe extra duration before your stacks expire, or even an extra frenzy charge? What is the max amount of charges right now, 4?

Zand:
Not all rangers are bow so while you should keep this in mind a Quiver that adds one of the keystone abilities that is far away from Ranger would be probably the most interesting Conduit and Iron Grip would probably be both nice grabs Maybe even Elemental Equilibrium although it's a tougher skill to use as 2 hits stack, but using all 3 does nothing |

"Frenzy related would be cool"
agree, however other stat need to be good as well, for it to be worth using. frenzy alone kinda lacking for a quiver my suggestion add high mana/mana regen, % Projectile damage or & phy damage, to go along with it -Something that makes all DoT damage apply instantly (for skills like Poison Arrow and Puncture) i like this also, puncture and poison arrow probably be ok, but seem kinda unbalance for burning arrow, the damage will be off the scale IGN : Xilax

Here are some ideas for effects that i think are cool.
Increases rarity of items dropped by 25%-50% Adds % to elemental damage Movement speed Maybe leaves a trail of sparks or glows slightly when equipped Increases light radius Chance to cast [insert spell here] when hit. Gems inserted cost % less to use Wearer becomes [illusion spell here] Head shot: extremely rare chance for one shot kill Adds extra projectiles Increases attack speed by small percentage of [stat here] Critical hits grant [something] for [time] can only happen every [cooldown] Shoots kittens instead of arrows. Casts [something funny] or [big aoe damage] upon death It's always cool to have fun effects items. That way, when it becomes obsolete its still worth keeping for novelty |

maybe a diamond flask type mod like every 10-15 seconds your next attack auto crits
or targets attacked are cursed with a random curse or maybe a quiver with sockets |

" Hey Zand <3 Max frenzy charges without passive nodes is 3. With the three passive nodes it is 6. The problem with making it frenzy specific is it makes it less likely to be widely wanted or used. It's probably best to keep it as generic as possible; if you do that, since there are no good unique quivers right now, your Diamond Unique would become the staple quiver that all quivers are compared against. I think that would feel pretty good if I were in your shoes. ^^ By having a good chunk of base physical damage on it, and having a drawback like 'Can't deal fire or electric damage', you make it a good quiver for every single bow ranger except ones who use Lightning Arrow and Burning Arrow (neither of which will be very popular when OB hits), while preventing it's good damage from being too easily abused by preventing use of the lightning/fire damage auras with it. Regardless of what you make, I'll probably end up being one of the first to use it extensively, so I'm looking forward to whatever you choose to do! " Thanks again, and I completely agree with you. I really do want to make this the staple quiver that will be used by many. With that being said, I'm pretty set on going the physical damage route with some additional life and/or mana leech. By the way, anyone know how mana leech works if you're using Blood Magic? Does it just leech life back instead? My next question is, other than high physical damage/damage modifier and leech, should I shoot for another cool affix? Like adding an additional arrow, or increasing light radius in dungeons? Or would doing that be too much/unnecessary and in return force me to counter balance with even more negative affixes? Right now, I really like the idea of not being able to deal fire/lightning damage. I'll probably shoot an e-mail to one of the dev's in the next few days to start the process. And thank you everyone again for all of the feedback.
" Mana leech does not count to life leeching when using BM; that's why there's life leech. Personally, a quiver with Iron Grip keystone mod would be very welcome as not all Ranger builds can/will access it, and also providing decent boost in raw damage for those with decent-high amounts of strength. A good penalty to this would be a -2% movement speed penalty. I personally like the light radius idea, like a quiver that shoots arrows to "shine the way" kind of thing. I think the Iron Grip passive coupled with a movement speed debuff of -4-6% or reduced projectile speed would be quite awesome.
Flavor text could be: "Why make arrows out of branches and tree limbs when you could use the trunk?" (Implying it holds massively over sized arrows) As for additional bonus ideas: %increased projectile damage %critical multiplier +Strength +Life %to Knockback +x-x physical damage Last edited by scheckles#2170 on Jan 17, 2013, 8:56:12 PM

I love the idea of creating a physical damage quiver. I have always thought it would be interesting to covert some elemental damage to physical damage since it seems to always be the other way around. I don't know how to properly balance that but I think it would be interesting and a staple for phys bow builds (which are severely lacking).
