Why PoE doesn't need floating combat text

Everything is opinion at the end of the day. Stating this doesn't refute the points I bring up. The difference is, I qualified my opinion with ideas and a comparison. I'd appreciate an argument which nullifies mine, one that uses evidence from other games, or something, instead of a dismissal just because it's an idea you don't like.

And yes, pokemon is a different "kind" of game, but it's a RPG, with many similarities. Tell me, aside from beta-testing purposes, where we might want number data to make sure mechanics in POE are working as intended, why do we need floating combat text? Why should the developers waste their time implementing this feature? It serves no purpose towards the nature of this game.



The problem with your opinion is all of your points are invalidated by useing 2 diffrent styles of games. The only similarities are its a fantasy game. But lets use your flawed argument between the two games. In PoE you have hardmode. In Pokemon you do not. That fact alone should be enough for GGG to allow players ALL of the information possible. A player SHOULD know if skill A crits mob Z with modifiers of X they WILL get one shot no questions asked. That way they can decide to take the risk or running into said mob with said modifiers or adjust gear or skill level to give them wiggle room. Any game that you can be one shotted based on numbers and not just simply a "get hit by this you die" mechanic should allow players to know everything.

In the end I dont care if they add it or not. It wont hurt the game like so many of you try to claim though, so long as its optional. I'm just trying to point out a real reason why the option should be there for thoes that want it beyond "I like seeing the numbers" which is still a more valid point than any of the arguments against it have come up with, again so long as its optional.

Then again. i cant stand to have items always on. it annoys me to have my screen cluttered with words obstructing my targets. Same goes for combat text. its just an eye sore to me when there is all these beautiful animationbs going on.

I will always refer to killing in these games as, one hit, two hit, or 3 hit. somteims more. But thats basically what happens. If you build goopfd you 1-2 hit all your content you fight, more or less.


when i play d3.. numbers off. Crits may stay on. but eh only for a sec. then i get disturbed that i can never read the numbers.. so its like.. whats the point. UI can kina see why they added it in cause all you get to know is that dps thing.. But in poe they give you specifics, so. yeah thats my point.

Im not 100% against it. because at times i would get lazy and use that as a quick confirmation on how much damag im doing to say a resistance mob. but other than that, quite pointless to me.

cleared the game with a marauder a witch and a templar 70-80
deleted em when they went to legacy since i only do race untill OB

Your immaturity is showing pretty hard right here. "WOWtards", "my POE"?? Seriously? This is a free to play game so it's hardly anyone's POE but GGG.

I can't understand people's arguments against adding an option to turn on/off and configure FCT. If you don't like it and feel that it will "ruin the game" then turn it off and it's no longer "ruining the game" for you. What difference does it make if half the party you're in is seeing their damage displayed? There's no disadvantages to that at all...

Anubite, there was no dismissal of your opinion at all. And my opinion doesnt need to be backed up with anything more than me saying I would like it, no?
