Desync in PoE vs other games
In Dota2 you have a lot of desync problems from my point of view. Best examples are Earthshaker fissures that magicly kick people out than blocking them and ofc Mirana Arrow.
Why you should try Harcore http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/209310/page/1

i didn't post this thread to argue. my main question was if there are working few employees on desync problem. i know there are 40 working in GGG (aprox). All i want to know what their goal is end of this year or when the big patch 1.1 comes early next year

I haven't really played LoL, Dota or HoN, but I've heard my brothers yell "That's BS! I dodged that and still died" a few times. I explained to them that their game sucks and that they should play a real game like PoE, but they just keep running the same map over and over on 3 different games made by 3 different companies.
I don't think I've ever played an online game that hasn't had a little bit of desync/rubberbanding/high latency. - Getting shot after you've gone behind a wall in an FPS game. - Flying/riding through WoW/EQ/etc and rubberbanding - Trying to pick fruit from a tree in Hello Kitty Island Adventure and nothing happening because the server thinks you're on the other side of the street. My solution: Play scrubcore on PoE and not give an F about dying due to desync. If you play hardcore, you know the risk of desync just like you know every threatening enemy attribute by their appearance. |

Searching on Goole for "Hello Kitty Online Desync" comes up with 5 out of 10 results for PoE. So obviously I'm not as funny as I think I am. Anyway, I do think that desync is a huge problem that needs to be worked on. But give GGG a little bit of slack. They've stated that they haven't been able to hire from other countries with higher paying salaries and that they have a hard enough time finding talented programmers in NZ. Also, the game is free to play. I'm sure the desync problem will slowly get better. Until then, keep throwing money at them so they can hire more people to improve the game we all love.
Also, I think that my solution is a pretty good one if you don't have a ton of time to play. I don't know how to describe my feelings towards Krip losing a level 80+ character and laughing/shrugging like it's nothing. Last edited by Malero#2160 on Nov 19, 2013, 2:01:39 PM

" They've had "slack" for over 3 years now... This isn't something that magically popped up, buglike, in "release"... You know the whole... "It's beta" responses the fanboys gave back then when a desync thread popped up, and they popped up daily, nowhere near the 20+ we get a day now in "release" which is expected when "release" something fundamentally broken to public and expect to earn money off it. This has been an ongoing and much talked about fundamental flaw with the game since the beginning... This is something other companies root out well before letting the public "beta test" their products... Hell even in this day of nickel and diming, with regards to "Early Access", developers would fix/address a problem this severe before even letting that "Early Access" start... This is something they knew about, and for all intensive purposes, ignored from the beginning... People have been telling GGG about how severe and rampant the desync is, since the beginning... So the only logical thing to assume is... They can't fix it, they refuse to fix it, they refuse to spend money to fix it, they refuse to spend money to hire someone to fix it, they're too arrogant to hire outside help to fix it, or they don't care. Pick one... Last edited by StinkFinger#4623 on Nov 19, 2013, 2:39:35 PM

" Honestly, a lot of the problem stems from forum whiteknights who think it is their job and duty to bash/flame/blame and ridicule anyone who posts their displeasure about Desync. Some of the posts are legitimate noobs who dont know better, and some are customers just venting because they are irritated by it, and the entire situation gets exacerbated by these forum whiteknights coming in blaming/bashing/flaming and telling people to quit if they dont like it. If they dont like the posts, stay out. Its that simple. They simply make the matters worse with their whiteknight leave the game posts. I have made posts when I am frustrated with desync. After it passes, I am ok. What starts to irritate me, and many others, is the people who take it upon themselves to tell me to quit the game if I dont like it, as if GGG needs their help on this forum. You really hold on to hate, don't you Dave.
You also misrepresent what has transpired on this issue. You yourself said that this game was "unbearable". Last edited by Shagsbeard#3964 on Nov 19, 2013, 3:07:48 PM

" And here they come to save the day for GGG! These posters right here is what makes the issue worse. Wont be long before he starts the whole, "leave the game if you dont like it" spill that always dribbles from their mouths. Edit: Oh, hes already warming up! Wont be long now before I'm told to quit the game. Last edited by Destructodave#2478 on Nov 19, 2013, 3:10:35 PM

"+1 Billion. Very well put. I chose the last. They just don't care. Truth is if you have a godly pc like I do it virtually eliminates desync and lag. At least for me it did. GGG knows this and refuses to admit it because they know 75% of the player base would vanish in an instant. Last edited by poeticheretick#5885 on Nov 19, 2013, 3:27:10 PM

My last death to desync was from whirling blades after I just spent most of my nemesis currency on a weapon (281 pure physical dps). It was the most bull crap death I have had.
Details: LMP spectral throw using leech/Loh to stay alive (I had to constantly hit stuff to regen due to lack of passive regen) I entered a room that had a ton of those 2h vaal construct dudes and I was killing them. They were spread out so I decided to get in a corner so they would all converge on me and I spectral throw them all to death. When they got near me, I whirling blades behind them and spectral throw to finish them off. Except what happened was I was full hp then bam bam dead with nothing around me. I type /oos after dying and it moved me back to the corner with all the mobs. I could have probably survived staying in the corner IF I KNEW I was there. I had no clue whirling blades had failed to move me and normally I notice desync, but in this case, I had no clue at all. Of course I'm not going to be spamming my potions or getting ready to log out when on my screen there is nothing around me. I have yet to level a character to map level since then because I just can't get in the right mood to push forward again. Every build I try to plan on the passive tree doesn't meet what I want and so I just keep trying to think of a build. I can't start a character until I know what I want to do. What I wanted was to play my spectral throw dude, but I can't bring myself to play a weaker version of what I already had for the 3rd time (first guy dying was my fault). ign: Vixien
