Everything is possible, GGG has to have some vision. That is why i admire Steve Jobs. He invented the impossible. You can fight gravity, i don't have any clue about coding games or anything but if there was no fix for this desync, why bothering makin this game then? cause in short run, game will be awesome but in long run poepole will stop playing it if desync will not get fixed.
I am only angry with GGG because they did not confirm that they are working on this problem.
EDIT: yeah i invited 4 of my friends and they were amazed with game, and they quited after 2 weeks and now they don't even want to talk about it, 1 failed at vaal merciless and got killed, 3 of them died due to desync... once my friend told me, where do you see hardcore in this game? you get desynced hard as you advance to higher level (more mobs ---> more desync) now i will lay low until next year IF they will say something about the desync problem.
i hope they know that in long run this will gave this game bad reputation and ppl will eventualy stop playing it.

Desync and lag is worse in this game with my good gaming PC and 16mb down, than it was playing d2 with a shitty PC with 56k internet.
I don't understand why they don't just run it all server side like dota or LoL. The only thing Chris has to say is "This does not work for Action RPGs." Why doesn't it work? I've played 3k hours of dota and even at 150 ms you get used to it. At 100ms you can't even tell there is a delay. I would rather play at a constant delay of 200ms than the constant desync I get.
You could always implement the option and then people who don't like it can just revert back to how it was.

The set-up stops duping and I haven't seen something like the trade hack either. There is a lot of cheating that is stopped. Granted, not all cheating is stopped, but a lot is. So, their set-up are stopping cheating, just not all of it.
If PoE trusted the client more, there would be even more cheating than there already is. Just because there is a lot of cheating, it doesn't mean there isn't a lot of cheating being stopped.

GGG has no vision at all.
Hence the same mistakes over and over, the same problems unfixed and purely token attempts at fixing the game. Skill does 1/3 the damage it does? 10% buff. Game mechanic broken? Nerf items. Crafting useless? Adds more useless recipes. Players complaining? Months of silence

if desync is really there to stop item duping then it is by far the weirdest and most crazy engineering decision ive ever seen (and ive seen a lot). Chris explained their netcode and wonder-prediction-method as a way to make combat better. trusting client more has little to do with items, because items are stored ONLY on server and created on server etc. this can be easily isolated from movement.
btw - that anti-cheating is in full swing, client still gets full area map uncoded. thats why map hacks for poe are so easy to make.. if they were really after cheaters that would have been changed long ago
