Convince me why Armor + Iron reflexes beats acrobatics.
" i've never been hit by any melee boss. im not exaggerating, i've never been hit. i can't tell if its evasion or dodge or block thats kicking in. keep in mind any physical boss i fight gets an enfeeble immediately, to lower damage in case i am hit before they're blinded, and their accuracy. after i hit them for half a second they are blinded and thus will never hit me before they're dead. with blind/enfeeble and my current defenses i have a 99.45% chance to avoid damage, assuming a 5% accuracy on the boss. 75% loss from blind and 60% reduction from enfeeble which is "less effective" on bosses, i dunno by how much but im going to assume that still reduces it to 5% accuracy. if i stand still and let things pound away on me then i can hear where my character yelps as if i getting hit but taking no damage, thats the block kicking in. this does not happen as often because block will only kick in if evasion/dodge fail...they are rolled first. i wouldn't say its block saving my ass, because i don't block all that often. its more of a backup or insurance than anything. i actually had 60% block but spec'd out of it for more damage because i can without sacrificing almost anything defensively. block is definitely insanely good and very under appreciated, especially spell block. the problem with armour is that its actually very bad against heavy hits. so hard hits that almost one shot an evasion based character IF they hit are going to almost do the same to an armour based build. considering how hilariously good ondars guile and acrobatics are, it almost looks to me as if the only reason to even go IR is actually Unwavering Stance, as you certainly dont want to get stunned as a melee and sure if you go US, you go IR.

Scion has easy access to +148% armor nodes and acrobatics both.
Could Armor + acrobatics + Dodge + Block work, taking Iron reflexes? Acrobatics does NOT have diminnishing returns, Evasion does. |

Halving your armor is not worth that. If you want to add some "dodge-like" effect, incorporate blind into your build, or use a shield.
There's a misconception that armour "works worse" for harder hits - this is inaccurate. The larger a hit is, the more armour's absolute effectiveness - the actual amount of damage it absorbs - is, but the relative effectiveness - the amount it absorbs vs the size of the hit - lowers. This doesn't mean that someone with high armor will take "just as much" as someone with none - for example, a 5k hit hitting someone with 12k armour will hit for 4166 - are you really going to argue that basically adding 800 hp to your pool to prevent an instagib is "almost the same"? Since evasion is not actually luck based past the first hit you take in a fight, evasion and armour are generally similar in effectiveness, with evasion being better at tanking multiple hard-hitting(but not life threateningly hard) mobs, and armour being better at tanking possible oneshots and swarms of mobs. Wonder why all the players writing Acrobatics guides are always in Standard.

" Once you have enough life, armor, and even life regen, US is not really necessary. Also, US would make Blind absolutely useless since you cannot evade when blind procs. Blind, as IR user, gives you a 75% chance to dodge hits (with the exception of spells attack which cannot be dodged), and that furthers decreases your odds of getting stunned at all. US is only necessary when you are still lacking life and armor. Sometimes you can take the game out of the garage but you can't take the garage out of the game.

" oh i dunno, maybe because only 2% of all players are on hardcore? lol |

How is evasion+acrobatics for bow uses, that cant stack block?
Im playing a bow crit-based shadow. If we dont think about reflect for a second, how would evasion do without the additional block chance to help out and without the aid of a shield to further stack evasion. Is is possible to run without grace or is that mandatory? This is not for hardcore play, although no one likes dying. And what if we factor in reflect. | |

because if you hit something from range outside your screen.. and the monster has Corrupted Blood.. then you die within 2 seconds

" If your health is so low that you'll be killed by a single stack of CB, you'll never make it to Cruel to get any. If you're repeatedly bombarding enemies far off your screen without paying attention to your health or effects and without carrying a Staunching, it could kill you. Then again, so could being an equally obtuse person in the middle of a mob pack. CB doesn't really care whether you run armour or evasion. I haven't had any problems dealing with it when it appears. Besides, who uses bows without picking up Point Blank? If you plan your character's optimal performance distribution to be the inverse of the biggest threats to its life, you're going to have a bad time. Expected nerfs: - Spectral Throw [done] - Scion Nodes [done] - Scion dialogue [ggg plz] Last edited by Techercizer#1929 on Nov 7, 2013, 12:13:17 AM
