Day 7 and counting: Cannot get past character select screen: "failed to connect to instance "

I have disconnected the netgear router.
My laptop is connected to the broadband modem by ethernet cable now. The preset options are just Asheron's Call, Napster, Rainibow Six and a couple more. I added the ports for POE and tried, no luck. Guess I will hook up the router etc, and do the Wireshark check from my non-POE PC. |

I had a long chat with the ISP people - they are confirming that none of the ports are blocked/closed.
I read EVERY one of the 100s of threads in this support forum on "failed to connect to instance" - couldnt find much of help specific to my case. But I think I am done with this - other than some random GGG comment in this thread, I havent gotten any support. I do understand they are swamped and whatnot - but just a search shows, this seems to happen to a lot of people at different locations. A sticky listing common issues which cause this would help (no, sticky saying use some romanian ISP or dont use wireless - isnt really helpful). I apologize if I sound a bit frustrated. Thanks a lot Emjayen for all your efforts. Mods please close this thread - I will update main post too so anyone finding this in the future knows issue didnt get closed out ( my beef with other threads, except for two or three, I can never tell if others' issues got sorted out or not, wish OPs updated their posts). |

I'm very sorry you were not able to figure out what it is and get it to work.
I also apologize that I haven't read the whole thread recently, so I don't know if you've tried a VPN just to see if it worked or not. Usually if you cannot connect through a normal method but the VPN works, you've got some sort of local network port blocking. The VPN can usually help figure out if there is a local blockage (although not necessarily where). |

I saw a couple of threads from a few months ago where others using airtelbroadband seem to have the same issue, after some April or so update. I have PMd a couple of them asking if it did get resolved for them, and if so how (one person hasnt been here since his last post about it months ago, but the other seems active). |

I am moving to India in a few weeks. Last time I started this thread, I was just visiting for a couple of weeks, and since I am in Bangkok - where POE has no issues for me - I wasnt affected much (just no POE for two weeks then!).
Guess my POE time is ending in a couple of weeks - unless some new items could be asked to be checked later (I will need to try changing ISP - but I get superior service form my current once in India for the past decade). |
