Although when people say mmo they generally mean the game plays like: WoW AoC guild wars and so on an so on.That kind of boring bland item system with its button pushing combat while your character stands on the spot doing a cool idol action pose.

The fact that MMO stands for massive multiplayer online game now is not really important. As that term started up forever ago when you didnt have hundreds of thousands of people playing online on a fps game.

MMO was coined by the Meridian 59 folks back in 1994-1995 to distinguish themselves from their contemporaries that only allowed <100 people in the same zone at a time. The term specifically refers to the architecture allowing hundreds of simultaneous local peers.

MMORPG was coined by Garriott for UO in 1997.

So regardless of the ignorant nonsense you speak, which is pretty much everything I've seen of your postings thus far... these are the real meanings and histories behind them. Words have meanings for a reason.

games like these you get all types that think that they can contribute. Some of them know they are trolling and others are actually genuinely not so bright and don't even realize it.

The worst ones don't realize it and go on defending it as if what they say makes sense. It's inevitable in forums like these. My take on it is to point it out once or twice then effectively ignore them the rest of the time.

At the end of the day, on the internet, your words making sense and having meaning is really the only thing that separates people... and I've been around the block enough times to call it how I see it, but leave the black holes alone, because they inevitably will suck you in if you let them.

What is usually most effective are private developer invitation forums. Essentially when you've proven for long enough that you can have intelligent and articulate conversations, they send you an invitation. Those people then have a relatively clean place to talk about things without the nonsense associated with the public forum.

Actually, Guild Wars 1 was not called an 'MMO', it was called 'CORPG' (Competitive/Cooperative Online Role Playing Game), because of the instancing. The devs were hesitant to call it an MMO. Guild Wars 2, on the other hand, will be a full MMO.

I agree, and I guess the point in that statement is, that you can divide games into categories, but as more and more MMO's get action oriented gameplay style as well, they definitely can be competition. So trying to ignore action oriented MMO's because of the label, isn't going to work, as they will by and large attract similar types of people. So PoE will definitely have to fight for attention to get a large player base.
