PoE is unplayable from Greece and Italy since it was released due to lag and disconnects.

Day 7: same problems. Nothing has changed. The players are losing their patience, GGG is losing players/customers/money, Softlayer are laughing behind their backs while counting money, and Telecom Italia are trolling everyone involved with traceroutes that skip the problematic node, "server maintenances" etc.

GGG is not helping either. I asked here yesterday if it's possible to use the account created on steam with the standalone client, in order to avoid problems with steam using a VPN, and I'm still waiting for an answer.

Here is your answer:

"You agree that you will not use IP proxying or other methods to disguise the place of your residence, whether to circumvent geographical restrictions on game content, to purchase at pricing not applicable to your geography, or for any other purpose. If you do this, we may terminate your access to your Account."

Whoops... sorry, I misread.

I'm from Italy and I have the same problems (me, my bro and all my friends always from italy).
I can play only after midnight because all day is unplayable (spikes up to 2k latency)

I hope you can fix this, I really love this game

cheers
ok guys, almost for Italian people it think i have a workaround...

The trick is using a vpn, nothing new, but if you have tried vpnbook with openvpn probably you got bad results.

Actually using a PPTP connection and vpnbook works, ok you will not have your 50ms ping, but actually no pocket loss and a 130ms avarage ping...

How you can see below at the end point the pocket loss is zero...

There are multiple issues going on that happen to form a perfect storm scenario.

It's launched, so there are a LOT more players than in beta.. That stresses the hardware a lot more than before... both the networking hardware as well as the servers.

There's also the "coincidence" factor that some things just happen to fail at certain times. They have no inter-related connection other than just occurring at a similar time.

Humans have a flaw in their logic processing which likes to attribute a cause and effect where one might not exist. Just because it worked before, then it patched, and then it didn't, that doesn't make it necessarily the patches fault. It COULD be, but it doesn't HAVE to be. We observe a result (effect) and attribute it to some cause even though it might not even have an actual causal relationship.

It's not Steam's fault either.
I'm playing with Australian gateway, at this moment seems to work (normally it doesn't). My ping is like 400 ms, but it's stable and without disconnections, still playable at least in PvE.

Is the ping meter in-game accurate? Honestly i have not the feeling i'm playing with 400 ms of delay, because commands are still reactive.

I just tracerouted the AU server, it still passes through seabone, maybe it was less congested.
The game has always been laggy for me, but since release, playing PoE has became impossible, with ridicolous amounts of desync and lags which in the beginning were funny to watch, until i got sick of them, without counting several crashes happening because i have a 32 bit os along several other unexplainable ones.

Since i don't want to pay to use external applications which may also risk in getting banned, i decided to stop playing and unistall. If the lag will be fixed properly i might be back... But i came to dislike the game and i'm actually glad i never put a cent in it, expecially because you would expect from a released game to actually work properly.
