This game is just very complex and doesn't lend well to reviews of today where they are all surface and done after a week of play at best. More than likely most reviewers will play through normal and call it a day. They have so many games to review and just don't have the time to play a game as deep as this one.

7/10 is pretty fair, but I don't understand the need to compare it to Torchlight's "style" which is a pretty specific style. It's like going to a restaurant and ordering steak but being disappointed because it doesn't taste like candy.

If it's an ARPG and it's not D3, it must be TL2 hurrdurr review.

Why PoE is only 7/10 and Diablo III 9/10 when PoE is WAY BETTER... Just dont understand it. And PoE is f2p..

I think the score and the review are very fair and pinpoint accurate.

Reviews of other games however...

I can't take any reviewer seriously that says Diablo 3 deserves more than a 6/10. Really it deserves a 3/10, but I guess for people new to the genre its flaws aren't as obvious. PoE getting a 7/10 is a little ridiculous. 8/10 is being too harsh, 9/10 sounds about right.

I think the score is just right. This is definitely what I would give it. Yes, I play the shit out of this game, but I can recognize that this game is not any where near perfect. It's a shame the fanboys on this site can't deal with that.

Every little thing coming to PoE is like the best thing ever and every game is trying to copy from PoE ..when in fact PoE copied heavly from other games: FF7 , FF10 , D2 and Torchlight.

You are just a victim of the brainwashing and blind fanaticism happening on these forums.


The 9/10 on Diablo 3 is supported by the +12M copies sold and +2M daily average players for the first year of the game. The hating minority is just a tiny drop on the ocean .. most of the haters are all here on these forums.

D3 sold 4.7M copies on day one ---> boosted by D2 popularity im sure

What about the other +7M copies? The game kept selling and selling even after all the "bad" popularity and bad reviews ... so maybe ..just maybe the game isnt as bad people here say.

Numbers cant lie and that many cant be wrong.

TL;DR - PoE forums brainwashing

I put precisely zero stock in reviews so what this guy has to say wouldn't make any difference to me if I were just learning about PoE.

That said, if I believed in reviews and were to give one, I think I'd be looking at around an 8 for PoE based on my open beta experience. I've not yet played enough of 1.0 to decide if it would now change or, if so, in which direction. The game is great, but has clear areas that could stand improvement. Some of those areas are technical, some are simply design decisions. Until those areas see the improvement they need a 10 is absolutely out of the question as far as I'm concerned. I think there might be an argument to be made for a 9, but that comes down to what is important to the individual as a player. Some of the areas that are lacking are things that I value a great deal, so I take another point away.

In the end, though, my "review" is just as meaningless as Eurogamer's, so ignore it as you please :)

I've never seen, let alone played, a game I thought worthy of a 10. No game I've ever seen has been flawless, not even the much vaunted Diablo 2.

Yet Aerith doesn't die, there isn't a annoying character as Tidus, there is no Cain iding your items and the pets are here are cowards.


You should check the characterlevels of the 10/10 posters. They haven't reached parts of the game where the game has massive flaws and becomes annoying.
